What is the central theme of Schindler’s List? Why might this be an appropriate (albeit graphic) film to show while we study the religions of the world?

I think that the central theme of Schindler’s List is to always do what’s right; one person can make a difference. I think that this is the central theme of this movie because Schindler, even though he is part of the Nazi party, he doesn’t stand by their abuse and actions against the Jewish people but instead does everything he can to save as many Jews as he can by declaring as many as he can as “essential workers” for his business. In the end, it is realized that one person, such as Oskar Schindler, can make a difference regardless of how small it may seem. In this case, one individual was able to save the lives of 1,200 Jews who were able to live long lives thanks to him. I think that this is an appropriate, although graphic, film to show while we study the religions of the world because this film showed just one of the great tribulations that the Jewish people have gone through and how they were treated. Also, I think that this film was appropriate to show in a world religion class because since we have been studying Judaism, students would have been able to recognize and understand most/all of the religious symbols and practices that were shown in the movie, which I …show more content…

She changed the way Schindler viewed the Jews. She allowed him to see the Jews as human beings, no longer featureless people who shuffle past him. She was the turning point in Schindler’s mindset which eventually lead him to savings hundreds of Jews. As well, I think when Schindler saw her corpse, it really struck him to do something about what was happening to the Jews because I think he realized that she was an innocent child who could have done nothing to deserve to be
