The two satirical cartoons satirized similar subject that involves technology and how it is greatly affecting our society. Therefore, the people and technological innovation is both being satirized in these two cartoon. The first cartoon, it mocks the difference of abstract interpretation such as the word “apple” between today’s generation and old generation. The second cartoon satirized another technological influence on the fact that everybody is addicted to their phone to the point where they need counseling. Both exaggerates the effects of technological innovation. I don’t personally agree with the first cartoon because it says that old generation is “from a simpler age.” There is pros and cons on both generation about which has it simpler.
The first cartoon is with Theodore Roosevelt wearing hunting gear and holding a gun. There’s bull sitting on the moon reading the newspaper. There are different names for this political cartoon, like don’t shoot, I’ll come down, the beef trust and et cetera. This cartoon was made when TR was “trust busting” small corporations. After Jungle by Upton Sinclair, people and TR wanted changed. So changes were made and the Federal Meat Inspection Act of 1907, which made sure that inspections are made before meats are processed and ready to be delivered.
Satirical humor entertains the audience so that the people appeal some jokes and comic ideas more enjoyable to visualizes. Satire demonstrates something very safe and also not very cynical to the society. Sometimes, satire can misunderstand people that some people find it's an insult to the politics.Satirical humor can also be a tool to communicate people, so people can learn and get involved more about issues in politics. There are some people like comedians that expresses satirical humor in politics. Also, some comedy shows that expresses political satire. Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut is a satire on the state of world affairs in the 1960's. Vonnegut made a commentary in this book on the tendency of humans to be warlike, belligerent, and shortsighted. The main character of the book, the narrator, is certainly not a protagonist, although the modern reader craves a hero in every story and the narrator in this one is the most likely candidate. Through the narrator's eyes, Vonnegut created a story of black humor ending in the destruction of the earth.
The twelfth and thirteenth episodes of South Park’s tenth season, “Go God Go” and “Go God Go XII”, work as pieces of comedy because they effectively uses humorous triangular formats. Both episodes satirize extremist behavior involving religion and atheism. The episodes usually show situations that involve the audience watching a humorous exchange between two parties. On occasion, the audience watches one character being made fun of, but overall the jokes involve the audience observing an exchange between two parties. The creator’s also use the characters to demonstrate their own beliefs and criticisms.
Doctor Jean Twenge is an American psychologist who published an article for The Atlantic titled “Has the Smartphone Destroyed a Generation?” in September 2017. The purpose of Twenge’s article is to emphasize the growing burden of smartphones in our current society. She argues that teenagers are completely relying on smartphones in order to have a social life which in return is crippling their generation. Twenge effectively uses rhetorical devices in order to draw attention to the impact of smartphones on a specific generation.

In America today, you will see some type of satire everywhere in America media because it is depicted in our everyday life. For example, satire appears in comics, broadcasts, TV shows, songs, etc. What makes satire more popular is the satirists who make it all possible to impact American media. Satirists have the unique ability to captivate anyone who may be listening to them speak through their words and delivery. Some famous satirists include Aaron McGruder, Milo Yiannopoulos, and “Weird Al” Yankovic.
It is evident that The Simpsons parodies a variety of everyday encounters faced by an individual. Almost no one nor is anything safe from the writers of The Simpsons and their mockeries. That said The Simpsons indeed has a deeper message aside from the idiocies that the show presents as comedy. The Simpsons consists of intricate ideas that combine to create a show that acts as a satire for American culture.
Day One (2/14): When I hear or see the word “comics” many words come to mind such as, news papers, books, children, Sundays, superhero and partners in crime. Before learning about comics, I would define “comics” as a narration of a story with pictures and captions in a certain order, that are often printed in a book or newspaper.
Pictures are not made without a reason. Every visual construct has some underlying purpose. Often times this purpose is to express the thoughts or emotions of its constructer. Political cartoons are used to this effect. These cartoons speak volumes about a period or event in time. If a picture truly is worth a thousand words, a political cartoon is worth one thousand one. Political cartoons are almost always drawn from the ideas of the public. Because of their significance to an event in time, they can be examined to reveal the opinion of the people during the time frame. Cartoonists are voices of the public and Greenberg is not an exception.
cell phone binary is intriguing, considering both the cartoon and the painting portray cell phones taking over our world. In Boligan’s cartoon he gives us a string of aspiration, a young boy cell phone free dressed in a bright red and blue uniform full of color and life, while in Banksy the two individuals are madly in love and even though they are staring at their cell phones something special brought those two together. In Boligan, the center of the circle, outlined by benches occupied by children sitting in the darker shaded area, is brighter revealing the young boys’ sports attire in bright colors with and his discontent facial expression, while the children sitting on the benches are dark with no color and no facial expressions due to the fact that they are all looking down. It is very obvious to spot the darkness these children are displaying considering when you glance past them you see the trees and grass, revealing a beautiful green color full of life, comparable to the young boy standing with his soccer ball under his left foot. Correspondingly, in the Banksy Mobile Lovers, the way the couple appears very alive and intrigued at what the cell phone screen may portray, their individual facial expressions are bland, black and white with no color implying what would follow Boligan’s cartoon in our near future. While Boligan’s cartoon displays our current, upcoming generation being taken over by cell phones sitting in the dark an away from the center, however giving us a string of hope by placing one young boy in the center where there is light and color, illustrating that even though we are slowly giving into technological advancement our children can still be saved from drowning into a dark world where the only light they will view is the one coming from their cell phone. Although, in doing this, both artists may also imply that it may possibly be too late to rescue our young generation if we don’t take immediate action.
In the cartoon, depicting wage gap, the Adam Zyglis from Buffalo News successfully illustrates the frustration women have towards the wage gap and the inequality that occurs in the workplace on a daily basis. Zyglis supports this illustration by flawlessly utilizing devices such as symbolism, labeling, logos, and traces of irony. Zyglis wants to present and call attention to this consistent circumstance in the workplace in order to urge the society as a whole to correct the inequality and irrational behavior towards women working. In addition to educating the public about this unreasonable behavior, the cartoon also exhibits the perspectives of these women who are forced to live with being paid less than fellow male co-workers.
