Samuel Colt faced many challenges in his early life, but he was able to overcome them and be the successful businessman that he was. Throughout his life Samuel Colt did many things to advance life in America, such as developing new guns and business techniques. Colt was the first of many to develop a fully functioning revolver know as the Colt single action army. Colt’s manufacturing techniques helped him become the leader in gun manufacturing. Today Colt’s company is still at work and has become the leader in gun advancements.
Samuel colt was born July 19, 1814 in Hartford, Connecticut. When young Colt was six
years old his mother died from tuberculosis. Colt had three sisters of whom one died during
childhood, another died from tuberculosis, and another later committed suicide. He also had three
brothers, one was a textile merchant and the other a lawyer. A third brother, John C. Colt, a man of
many occupations, killed a creditor in 1841 in New York City, was found guilty of the murder,

Throughout American history, politics changed with the times, forming and growing as new situations and environments took place. However, the most drastic differences occurred between 1815 and 1840. During this time, the North and South develop different economic systems, which created political differences between the regions. Between 1815 and 1840, the number of eligible voters drastically increased as politicians utilized a wider variety of campaigning methods in order to appeal to as many voters as possible, all essentially caused by economic growth. Politics grow to include universal white male suffrage, a strong national government, and nationalism versus sectionalism. Economic Growth (American System, Industrial Revolution, Sectional Economies, Internal Improvements & Inventions) caused the political party changes.

He was very active when it came to helping African descendent slaves escape from the slave states. He was an industrialist that helped hundreds of slave escape to the Underground Railroad resistant bases in Ripley Ohio. African or black history was not a study that was done by many until the last century. Studying African Americans accurately as part of American History was an even newer field of history. John Hope Franklin’s obituary calls him, “the scholar who helped create the field of African-American history and dominated it for nearly six decades.” He would call himself an historian of the American South.
Immediately, he was faced with making 10,000 muskets in a span of two years for the United States. This proved to be a challenge for Whitney as this task took him upwards of 10 years instead of the original two. He created the idea of interchangeable parts, which changed the way muskets were built. The war with France looked promising in the near future, so Whitney must be able to produce these muskets in time, and had a lot of pressure on him.(100) Although Whitney mainly took this contract from the government to make money, he was satisfied with helping out his government in any way possible. He was born on November 29, 1811, the son of a wealthy Boston family. With a background of attending the famous Boston Latin School as a kid and later on obtaining a degree from Harvard Law School in 1834. Phillips did not consider himself a reformer until the Boston Female Anti-Slavery Society where he heard William Lloyd Garrison speak. He eventually became secretary of the Anti-Slavery group.
During the Abraham Lincoln’s short time as president, he managed not only to save a nation deeply divided and at war with itself, but to solidify the United States of America as a nation dedicated to the progress of civil rights. Years after his death, he was awarded the title of ‘The Great Emancipator.’ In this paper, I will examine many different aspects of Lincoln’s presidency in order to come to a conclusion: whether this title bestowed unto Lincoln was deserved, or not. In order to fully understand Lincoln, it is necessary to understand the motives that drove this man to action. While some of his intentions may not have been for the welfare of slaves, but for the preservation of the Union, the actions still stand. Abraham Lincoln, though motivated by his devotion to his nation, made the first blows against the institution of slavery and rightfully earned his title of ‘The Great Emancipator.’

Abraham Lincoln is widely regarded as “The Great Emancipator,” His legacy as the man who freed the slaves, and the savior of the Union is one that fails to be forgotten. He is thought of as a hero, and one of the few to tackle slavery, a problem that has existed in many parts of the world at one time or another. Although Lincoln is credited with ending slavery, his political motives for confronting this issue and his personal views do not make him worthy of all the recognition he receives; the driven abolitionists and daring slaves deserve a much greater portion of the credit.
The years after the civil war left one half of America, the north, satisfied and the other half, the south, mostly dissatisfied. Therefore the last third of the nineteenth century, 1865-1900, was a time period in which America was mending, repairing, improving, reshaping, and reconstructing its society, economy, culture, and policies. Basically it was changing everything it stood for. This continual change can be seen in the following events that took place during this time. These events are both causes and effects of why America is what it is today. These are some examples: the reconstruction of the south, the great movement towards the west, the agricultural revolution, the rise of industrialism, the completion of the transcontinental railroad, and America's growth to gaining world power. All of these are reasons and events that characterize America as being an ever-changing nation.
Samuel Finley Breese Morse was born on April 27, 1791, in Charlestown, just outside of Boston, Massachusetts. He was the son of Jedidiah Morse, a pastor who was as well known for his geography as Noah Webster, a friend of the family, was known for his dictionaries.
His father was a retired army officer and his mother was a teacher. A week before his 9th birthday his mother passed away just before giving birth to a third child due to heart and kidney problems. Three years later his older passed away at the age of 26 because of scarlet fever, a skin infection like strep throat that causes rashes that's rarely fatal.

The younger John Browning was well suited for his soon to be chosen field of firearms manufacturer as his father Johnathan had been a gunsmith for many years with many original firearm designs of his own. This afforded John Browning the opportunity to be exposed to the art of gunsmithing early on, and his ingenuity and God given abilities were quickly compounded by the invention of the metallic cartridge. The initial effort was to improve the rugged firearms of the day that were used for hunting big game that were so bountiful at the time and made up a large component of life. John’s inventions developed from there and included all facets of firearm manufacturing; his designs dominate the field even in the present day. John M. Browning’s contribution to firearm design arguably influenced more firearm designs than any other firearm inventor, and played a key role in influencing the outcome of wars from the First World War up to the present day war on terror.
