In the past marriage was man and woman not man and man or woman and woman. Just like in the past citizens and presidents change things according to their likes and dislikes, citizens of the United States are no longer required have arrange marriages so why is it still illegal to have same sex marriage?
Many business people have made some ethical dilemmas involving same sex marriage. Some businesses though do not realize what benefits could occur if same sex marriages were made legal. If same gender marriage was legal there would be less discrimination causing our United States to become one, like the constitution wants us to be. An ethical dilemma is a situation where someone has two choices and neither one of these options resolves the situation in an ethical way (Ethical Dilemma Examples, 2015). An example of this is when a business woman owns a bakery and a same sex couple enters the business to order a cake for their wedding. This business woman who does not believe in same sex marriage has two options refuse to make a cake for this couple or make them leave her business. Most same sex couples get dined child custody, family medical leave, family healthcare coverage, social security benefits, and federal and state benefits. When a “traditional” married couple has kids but one of partners from the marriage discovers they are interested in the same sex, that person who is interested in the same gender is unlikely to get custody of their child. Now if that same person lives with the same gender and acts just like a “traditional” married couple they still cannot get married. Since same sex marriage is not legal then this couple will not be able to get married and if their partner is on their death bed they are not allowed to leave work with family medical leave act and they can lose their job over this. Is any of this fair (Webb, 2015)? In the United States there are many countries that do not allow same sex marriage but there are a few that do allow it. With same sex couples there comes a lot of ethical dilemmas and theories that occur with businesses. There are downfalls with same sex marriage but there are many upside on same sex marriage. Businesses and the people in them need to watch how they treat people like this even if it is not legal, there is consequences in everything you do or not
