Peaceful resistance to laws impacts our free society greatly and positively. It teaches us that we have voice and that we are using our right. In the 1st amendment it says that we have the right to freedom of speech, press, assembly, religion, and protest. The civil rights movement,all black lives matter, women’s rights movement, lgbt movement, and many more have shown that it's a commitment, it is hope. Due to these peaceful resistances we are no longer segregated, we are equal, we are respected and cherished by one another, that is what peaceful resistance to laws due it makes society better and gives us hope for what could happen next. When Rosa Parks resisted giving up her seat she knew the consequences but it was her standing up for what she believed in, she had to make a change, it was her hope to change the law and she did. A wise man once said, “It must be emphasized that nonviolent resistance is not a method for cowards; it does resist. If one uses this method because he is afraid or merely because he lacks the instruments of violence, he is not truly nonviolent. This is why Gandhi often said that if cowardice is the only alternative to violence, it is better to fight.” - Martin Luther King
