Saturday of October 10, 2010, American citizens gathered at The National Mall in Washington D.C. for The Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear. This Rally held by comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor, and television host Jon Stewart. By using forms of rhetorical techniques such as ethos, logos, pathos, Stuart helps convey his purpose. In his closing speech, Stewart uses many references to demonstrate his credibility. For instance, towards the middle of his speech, he issues “We hear every damned day about how fragile our country is, on the brink of catastrophe, torn by polarizing hate, and how it's a shame that we can't work together to get things done. The truth is, we do! We work together to get things done every damned day!” This signifies that though there are other spectators who don’t believe that America and the American people are unified but, Stewart is saying that he as an American citizen knows first hand all the hardships and boundaries we have overcome in our society. …show more content…
