1. There is a war against the Patriots and the Colonies in Legend. Day is on the Patriots side and June is on the Republic’s side. Day is wanted by the Republic for assault, arson, theft, destruction of military property, and hindering the war effort. Day sneaks into the hospital to get medicine for his brother, Eden, who has the plague. Day ends up “killing” Metias, June’s older brother, by a knife. Once June heard about the death of her brother, she goes on an undercover mission to the Lake sector in Los Angeles, California where Day lives to find and capture him and bring him in for questioning. June knew it was Day when she saw him do that because she has his pendant in her pocket, she told Thomas, a soldier from the Republic, that she found Day. Thomas and other soldiers show up that night to capture Day’s family and him, Day finds out about the plan and leaves to go hide his family under their porch while Day goes on the roof and hides behind the chimney. Thomas shot Day’s mom while other soldiers took Day, Eden, and John to separate trucks. The soldiers locked John and Day up in separate cells and took Eden to the lab. June finds out that it wasn’t Day who killed her brother but that it was Thomas who did it. Commander Jameson set Day’s execution date for December 27th but changed it to December 26th. June helped John and Day escape their cells but wasn’t able to save Eden. They started running out of time so John took the blindfold from Day’s neck and put it around his and left Day and June and turned back to go to the soldiers and pretended to be Day, and died. In Todd Shepard’s work Voices of Decolonization, the featured documents provide keen insight into the geopolitical environment of the era of decolonization (1945-1965) and the external and internal pressures on the relationships between colonial nations and the territories that they held dominion over (Shepard 10). Decolonization is the result of a combination of national self-determination and the establishment of functional international institutions composed of independent sovereign nations united towards common goals. As decolonization progressed, it intersected with points of significant sociopolitical tension between colonies and the nations that colonized them. Some of these moments of tension came in the form of progressive ideals held by international agencies which colonial nations were allied with, the revolt of colonized populations against their standing government in favor of independence, and in moral and political conflicts that arose when decolonization takes a form unexpected or undesired by the primary agents of progressive international institutions.
On September 9, 1739, as many as one hundred African and African American slaves were living within twenty miles of Charleston, South Carolina. This rebellious group of slaves joined forces to strike down white plantation and business owners in an attempt to march in numbers towards St. Augustine, Florida where the Spanish could hopefully grant their freedom. During the violent march toward Florida, the Stono Rebellion took the lives of more than sixty whites and thirty slaves. In 1776, David McCullough gives a vivid portrayal of the Continental Army from October 1775 through January 1777, with sharp focus on the leadership of America’s greatest hero, George Washington. McCullough’s thesis is that had not the right man (George Washington) been leading the Continental Army in 1776, the American Revolution would have resulted in a vastly different outcome. He supports his argument with a critical analysis of Washington’s leadership during the period from the Siege of Boston, through the disastrous defense of New York City, the desperate yet, well ordered retreat through New Jersey against overwhelming odds, and concludes with the inspiring victories of Trenton and Princeton. By keeping his army intact and persevering through 1776, Washington demonstrated to the British Army that the Continental Army was not simply a gang of rabble, but a viable fighting force. Additionally, Mr. McCullough supports his premise that the key to the survival of the American Revolution was not in the defense of Boston, New York City, or any other vital terrain, but rather the survival of the Continental Army itself. A masterful piece of history, 1776 is not a dry retelling of the Revolutionary War, but a compelling character study of George Washington, as well as his key lieutenants, and his British adversaries, the most powerful Army in the 18th Century world. When I read this book, I went from a casual understanding of the hero George Washington to a more specific understanding of why Washington was quite literally the exact right man at the exact right place and time to enable the birth of the United States.
I read a book about the Boston Massacre the was originally named the bloody massacre. The amount of killed persons is generally accepted to be 5 people. The Fifth of March is a 1993 novel about the Boston Massacre (of March 5, 1770) by historian and author Ann Rinaldi, who was also the author of many other historical fiction novels such as Girl in Blue and A Break with Charity. This book is about a young indentured servant girl named Rachel Marsh who finds herself changing as she meets many people, including young Matthew Kilroy, a British private in the 29th regiment.
1776, Book Review It was a good year for a revolution, 1776. But it didn't start off quite as well as the colonists would have liked. When George Washington agreed to take command of the American forces in 1775, he probably didn't realize what he was truly getting himself into. Washington took command of an army made up of old men and young boys that had either come from their farms or the streets. The army was short on weapons and gunpowder, lacked uniforms, and was racked by disease and drunkenness.
On Friday April 24th J.P. Walker, Preacher Lee, Crip Reyer and L.C. Davis got into Reyer’s Oldsmobile and they took off on a mission to kill Mark Charles Parker. (3 other cars of men followed) They went to the courthouse/jail in Poplarville and they could not get in. So they went to Jewel Alford’s House (The jail keeper) to get the keys to the Jail. Alford went with the four men to the courthouse. When he got there he went in and down the hall to Sheriff Moody’s office and got the keys to the jail. He opened the door to the jail and Lee, Reyer, Davis, Walker followed Alford into the jail. Alford then opened Parkers cell and Lee and Davis pulled Parker out of the jail and courthouse to the Reyer's Oldsmobile. Alford then left and the men got into the car.

The novel Red Cap is about a young boy who joins the army during the Civil War to help protect his beliefs. It is a common tale but each boy has his own story. This historical fiction by G. Clifton Wisler displays Ransom J. Powell’s story in an entertaining and informational manner. This book has no dull moments and beautifully shows the ugly truth about boys fighting in the Civil War and the life of the prisoners of war during this time period.
The character that will be examined is named Private James Francis Ryan from the movie Saving Private Ryan. The movie takes place during June 6th 1944 also known as D-Day and the following days after that. The United States army receives information that all his brothers were killed in action, therefore they found it necessary to go get him back home to his mother. The army sends in an eight man squad led by Captain John H. Miller in order to recuse and bring James Francis Ryan home.
Many people say that the metal of a man is found in his ability to keep his ideals in spite of anything that life can through at you. If a man is found to have done these things he can be called a hero. Through a lifelong need to accept responsibility for all living things, Robert Ross defines his heroism by keeping faith with his ideals despite the betrayal, despair and tragedy he suffers throughout the course of The Wars by Timothy Findley.

Ryan, NBC News staff Robert Brown and Don Harris, San Francisco Examiner photographer Greg Robinson and defector Patricia Parks are all murdered. Others hide in the jungle.
This source is excellent to further understand Theodore Roosevelt’s life. In this book the author goes in depth about his personality, political life, and life at home. I want to mostly use the information on this source to talk about his private life. The book goes more in detail about his childhood life and his hobbies as he grew up. It goes on to explaining how he liked boxing, how he was homeschooled because he was a sick child, and how he married Alice Hathaway Lee of Massachusetts. This source is reliable because the author used information from the Library of Congress. Henry Fowles Pringle was also a professor at Columbia School of Journalism, and during World War II was the head of the publications division of the United States Office of War Information.

The subject matter of the “Republic” is the nature of justice and its relation to human existence. Book I of the “republic” contains a critical examination of the nature and virtue of justice. Socrates engages in a dialectic with Thrasymachus, Polemarchus, and Cephalus, a method which leads to the asking and answering of questions which directs to a logical refutation and thus leading to a convincing argument of the true nature of justice. And that is the main function of Book I, to clear the ground of mistaken or inadequate accounts of justice in order to make room for the new theory. Socrates attempts to show that certain beliefs and attitudes of justice and its nature are inadequate or inconsistent, and present a way in which those views about justice are to be overcome.
Robert D.
