The first question of this activity is one question that I do not like to be asked and I have trouble answering it (sometimes I just give the easiest answer instead of explaining). I do not have a religion, I do not like classifications or distinctions among religions, and I certainly do not like the generalizations about religions. I believe in God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the bible.
I was raised within a Christian family, going to church every Sunday, listening to God’s word since I was in my mom’s womb. I was taught to discern right from wrong efore I could talk. However, growing up made it harder for me to maintain my beliefs and the main reason if that the dominant religion in my city was Catholicism. I detached myself from what I learned and just tried to live my life as “normal” as possible. and Lindenwood were based on the life style portrayed in the Hollywood movies. Although U.S is mostly a proclaimed Christian nation, the culture at the Universities is another story. Most of the college’s students do come with the hope to party, drink, and have fun – and they do. Once I realized that that was not a healthy life style I went back to my beliefs and it was a change that was noticed by those around me. I do not think that there is a dominant religion on campus, although there is a church – in the old campus, where services are open to students – which practices resemble those of the Catholic Church. From what I have observed on campus every student is free to practice the religion they feel most comfortable with without being object of bullying. Similarly, is the generalized view of U.S. and its tolerance towards diversity. I do not think that my “religion” is related to my ethnicity or even race.
