Growing up and being raised by a single mother who used to work multiple jobs and always striving and striving to provide the bare essentials and necessities that were needed for her children to get by. I experienced and seen first hand exactly how hard life can be at times while watching my mother work as hard as she could to try and give her children the best that she was able to. It was always instilled into me at a young age that I need to do my best in school by studying and working as hard as I can so I could attend college and earn a degree to make a fulfilling and satisfying career for myself when I grew up, and so I wouldn’t have to work multiple jobs for minimum wage just to scrape by. Proper values, morality, and religion are things that were always taught to me and that always made me work hard to try and live up to. The expectations and examples that were shown to me throughout my life were the things that would set me on track to have a successful future. After finishing high school, I felt like college was something that was expected of me so I enrolled and attended my first year that Fall. Meeting new people, making new friends, being away from home and on my own, and attending parties was something that didn’t take long for me to get caught up in. I was starting to sleep in and skip a class here and there, then before I knew it I was skipping classes more and more and my friends, drinking, and partying all of a sudden became my first priority.
