Sweden, Germany, Scotland, and England are all countries from which my ancestors derived from. All of these ethnicities come together to form the two sides of my family that are living today. On my mom’s side of the family, her ancestors came from Germany, Ireland, and Sweden. On my dad’s side, his ancestors came from Sweden and England.
The Skelton’s (my dad’s side of the family) immigrated from Sweden to England and then to America during the 1700’s. An unusual person from the Skelton side of the family is John Skelton. John was from England, and he wrote and recited poetry for England’s king at the time. John was seen more as a jester figure for the king. More recently was a guy by the name of Red Skelton. His real name was Richard, which is ironic because that is my dad’s name as well. Red Skelton was a comedian and hosted his own show called “The Red Skelton Show.” The Skelton’s came to America to farm. Many of my grandparents owned farms, mainly cattle farms, and some of the farms are still owned by family members. …show more content…

The Banters moved to America to farm or work in factories. On the other hand, the Easleys started businesses and made decent amounts of money compared to the Banters. Although the Banters started out as the lower class, one individual made it to the top as an actress. Her name was Marjorie May Banter. Marjorie is four generations back, so quite a long time ago. The Easley’s also founded Ipava Illinois, a small town in fulton county. Most of both of the families grew up in Fulton county.
Although each family has their differences, they came together and formed the families that are living today. Where our ancestors came from and what they came to be are key components to what makes up family history.
