Reaching your educational goals can turn your life around. Life is gold, why not enjoyed while we can? But can we really enjoy without an education, a certificate or a degree? In the article titled "The New Liberal Arts,” author Sanford J. Ungar says that vocational education leaves out training in areas that students will need to succeed. According to Ungar, "The career education bandwagon seems to suggest that short cuts are available to students that lead directly to high-paying jobs--leaving out 'frills ' like learning how to write and speak well” (191 ). Schools promote different things to catch the attention of students; however, it’s not about what the schools are promoting but the actual education acquired at the end. College seems to be more affordable, as well as giving you the opportunity to explore any professional workforce after graduation. Vocational programs teach more of a vocation and are usually used within the health care field. These programs can be a little more expensive; but on the contrary, they tend to progress at a faster pace. Receiving only a vocational certificate rather than a degree, students can still pursue many jobs. Universities are well known to provide a better future and a better career by expanding our educational skills and better preparing us to better communicate with other people. As we say the way we speak is the way we can be identified as a person. The skills that we must practice every day to become a better person are manners, education, and grammar. Therefore even though university cost more at the end, a university will be worth the price. Your life will be changed completely by being able to acquire a better job and better pay. When it comes to education, Kantor (2003) asks: “How are we benefiting society if we make kids themselves deeply into debt”. I believe that by obtaining a bachelor’s degree, we are helping our society by being well educated in our work field.
