This story shows Ray Bradbury’s true skepticism toward the future and its technology. The Pedestrian proves how the community can not accept differences and lack of trust and humanity. The story depicts a life of a man who gets rejected and shunned wherever he goes. He goes on a walk for fresh air, but the police stops him and drives him to the Psychiatric Center for Research on Regressive Tendencies. They want to take him here because Mr. Mead desires the community to regress to the old times where they didn’t rely as much on technology. “Where are the cowboys rushing, and do I see the United States Cavalry over the next hill to the rescue?
