Our society today is too involved in technology. In the short story "The Pedestrian" Braudbury introduces the main character, Mr. Lenard Mead. He lives in the time period of 2053, where everyone has giant tv screens in their homes. It is in a futuristic setting to show how advanced everything is compared to the way it used to be, and how uninvolved everyone is in everyday life. In this short story a man ( Mr. Mead) who doesn't believe with the way the world is in that day in age. Every evening he would walk throughout an abandoned city, just to evaluate the aspects of nature and cultures without technology and all the advanced lifestyles.
