Firstly, Ralph Roister Doister is a comedy play that was written in the 1550’s and it is based on the Latin comedy of Plautus and Terence, it featured the first roman or Latin Character presented in an English play at that time and regarded as the first play in English language due to its popularity among audience back then. Moreover, the play was played in a London school, where the author itself was the master. The drama behind the comedy play produced in the period of restoration has earned a notable appreciation and criticism on the immorality and irreverence that passed on. Ron Mueck has a particular unique set of skills from the commercial world that he can apply to his art. The amount of surface detail Ron uses in his work brings the audience closer and personal to their feelings of emotions. This is achieved by the detail that he displays with scarps or cuts, the vein’s on a hand which causes the spectator to be mesmerized by the art. When you stare at his art for a long period of time, you will then begin to understand the beauty accompanied with the elegance of his style. Playing with scale, sets the audience up for an experience of an emotional shock that will mentally disrupt our understanding. Making a life size scale of someone or something seems to boring for Ron. The technique Ron uses is interesting in the sense that he creates these mannequins that are extremely hyperrealistic that when you are in the presence of one of them, you may believe that they are alive. Even know they could stand anywhere from 1 to 8 feet high.
Out of the plays that we could have chosen to produce, I have decided to go with Molière’s, “Tartuffe.” This play is a comedy that comes from 17th century France and is heavily influenced by two large sources of experience for Molière. Those sources are the rules and structure for a play put in place by the French academy and the lessons of improvisation taught by the Commedia dell’Arte. This piece is written in fives acts that are in a unique alexandrine style of verse which have 12 syllables in a line and usually ends with rhyming words. The reason I chose this play is because, in my opinion, things like television, movies, plays, and other forms of media and entertainment are meant to transport you away from all the bad things happening in real life and focus you on something fun and/or interesting. I find this play to have a lot of fun moments that can be mined for even more comedy and I think it has the good chance to keep a large audience entertained for a long period of time. To accomplish my goal I will use elements of situational comedies, France in the 1660’s, and one of Molière’s plays, “A school for girls.”
In the book Freak the Mighty By Rodman Philbrick it talks about how you shouldn’t judge someone by their appearance . In the movie Wreck-it Ralph, Ralph is the “Bad Guy” and people see him as this mean guy that wrecks everything he touches, People judge him by this appearance, and on one wants to be friends with him, people just assume that Ralph is a bad guy because he plays a bad guy in this game Unit, he meets Vanellope, Vanellope actually doesn’t think Ralph a bad guy and Vanellope see Ralph real personally.
One of the crucial aspects of the play, is the quality and responsibility of civic responsibility that is of paramount importance, that all members of the Jury uphold this virtue obsequiously. As we analyse the story more obsequiously, we can prevail the personalities of the juror’s and a rough basis of their respected virtues are to be seen more evidentially. Although there are some jurors who do not exceed presumptuous assumptions in the jury room, some characters in the play already have a ‘pre-conception’, respectively, towards the initial accusation towards the sixteen-year-old boy.
Roger & Me is a documentary directed and narrated by Michael Moore, a filmmaker who has his entire family worked for the General Motors, except him. By the time the documentary was recorded, General Motors eliminated more than 30,000 jobs in Flint, Michigan. Therefore, more than anyone, Moore acknowledged of the effect of globalization towards the citizens and so this documentary will present his perspective upon social event in Flint, Michigan.
This play brings out the differences between the upper class to that of the middle class and lower class people. Moreover, the characters’ follies and foolishness lies at the core of this drama. Deceit and lies, love and marriage are also some major themes in this drama. There are three acts in this drama, all interlinked with each other. The first act of this drama introduces us to the main characters, their complications and sufferings. There are more complications in the second act. These complications lead the plot to its climax and finally the happy conclusion in the final act. The plot of this play is based on inconsistent actions, unbelievable characters and coincidences. The plot is compact and closely knit but the audiences appreciate the play not because of its unity of scenes but due to the art of characterization employed in the play by Wilde.
In conclusion, William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” or “What You Will” is one of Shakespeare’s many comedic plays. The passage in Act 1, Scene 5 focused predominately on a conversation between Feste and Olivia about the mourning of her brother. It was through Feste and Olivia’s word games that contributed to the play as a whole because it added humour to the play. The passage also helped to reveal an underlining theme of the play, which is deception as shown through the character of Malvolio. This essay has attempted to explain the meaning of the passage, attempted to unpack the language utilised by Shakespeare and determine his ideas behind the chosen language. It then tried to justify why and how those ideas in the passage contributed to the play as a whole.
Tartuffe is a satirical comedic play written by Molière in 1664. It is focused around the family of Orgon and the character of Tartuffe, who has become Orgon’s personal holy man. Before being brought into Orgon’s home, Tartuffe was nothing more than a common beggar who learned how to act pious. Throughout this play, we see Orgon give everything he owns to Tartuffe: his love, his money, his daughter, and even the deed to his house. While everyone else in the household sees Tartuffe for who he really is, Orgon remains blind to it throughout most of the play. Orgon is warned many times by different members of the household, including his own son, yet he only chooses to lash out against those speaking. From early on in the play we as readers are able to recognize that Tartuffe is no more than a hypocrite and Orgon is a blind fool. Shakespeare’s Hamlet is arguably one of the best plays known to English literature. It presents the protagonist, Hamlet, and his increasingly complex path through self discovery. His character is of an abnormally complex nature, the likes of which not often found in plays, and many different theses have been put forward about Hamlet's dynamic disposition. One such thesis is that Hamlet is a young man with an identity crisis living in a world of conflicting values.
In comparing the two productions together, one must look at the evolution of the play from the sixteenth-century to modern-day. One aspect is the cultural views. As discussed before the sixteenth-century view of Jews greatly differ than that of modern-day. It is because of the influence of World War II that many perspectives have changed. Radford’s production resonates with the tone of sympathy were as Shakespeare’s echo with rightful justice. There is a grey area that Shakespeare leaves and Radford teeters between his modern interpretation and the classic take.

Aristotle, as a world famous philosopher, gives a clear definition of tragedy in his influential masterpiece Poetics, a well-known Greek technical handbook of literary criticism. In Aristotle’s words, a tragedy is “an imitation of an action that is serious, complete, and of a certain magnitude, language embellished with each kind of artistic ornament, the several kinds being found in separate parts of the play, the form of action, not of narrative, through pity and fear effecting the proper purgation of these emotions”(Aristotle 12). He believes that a tragedy should be serious and complete in appropriate and pleasurable language; the plot of tragedy should be dramatic, whose incidents will arouse pity and fear, and finally accomplish a catharsis of emotions. His theory of tragedy has been exerting great influence on the tragedy theories in the past two thousand years. Shakespeare, as the greatest dramatist in western literature, also learnt from this theory. Hamlet is one of the most influential tragedies written by Shakespeare. The play vividly focuses on the theme of moral corruption, treachery, revenge, and incest. This essay will first analyze Shakespeare’s Hamlet under Aristotle’s tragedy theory. While not completely sure if I am within the ball park, I feel that this play “unites the audience in a common faith with messages of hope and mercy” (407), while showing the real life hardships of the period with the shepherds “complaining of taxation and insolent exploitation of the farmers by “gentlery-men” , revealing the social criticism and rifts and tensions” (407).
