Rainsford and Whitney were on the yacht for at least 3 days, trying to make it to Morocco. They were explorers and explored almost all of Morocco. The only places they had yet to explore in Africa are the Ivory Coast, Morocco, New Guinea, and South Africa.

After two hours of sailing, they made it to the “crocodile.” But to their disappointment, it wasn't a crocodile and it wasn't an animal. It was an uncharted island to be exact. “This--This is no crocodile! This is an island” remarked Whitney. “Oh, my mistake. Perhaps we should explore it a little” said Rainsford. “Fine, but only for an hour” said Whitney. “I don't have a good feeling about this place anyways.” Rainsford stopped the yacht at the shore of the island and they went on their adventure. After 45 minutes of exploring the exotic island, Whitney heard a rustle in the bushes. “What is that?! Did you hear that?!” Whitney grabbed onto Rainsfords arm, frightened. “Whitney, my son, you are just hearing things. Now come on, there's more to explore. We have 15 more minutes.” Rainsford was 40 and Whitney was only 16. Whitney was a coward and he didn't like the feeling that the island was giving him.
