The Stanford Prison Experiment violates research methods in several ways. Both the ethics to protect research participants and to avoid the harming of research participants was violated during the experiment on many instances. For example, researchers did not fully disclose the purposes nor the nature of their research. The participants were not made aware of the conditions and procedures in which they would endure. Researchers also failed to protect participants. During the study, the participants who were known as “the prisoners” endured psychological abuse from the “guards”.
