Is anyone really surprised? Trump has a history of not telling the entire truth. In fact, he says that it's a valuable business tactic in his book. It's also a factor in many of his lawsuits. Politics aside, I feel for all those learning that they will be losing their jobs. There is never a good time to get such news. Getting that news during the holidays makes it that much worse. I extend my thoughts and prayers to every single one of those workers as well as the many others around the country that get that sort of news. You can't make America strong again when people keep losing their jobs. Have the maturity to be honest and transparent with the American people. I'm sure we all can agree that we are all tired of so many President's lacking
After the Revolution, the country was left in an economic crisis and struggling for a cohesive path moving forward. The remaining financial obligations left some Founding Fathers searching for ways to create a stronger more centralized government to address concerns on a national level. The thought was that with a more centralized, concentrated governing body, the more efficient tensions and fiscal responsibilities could be addressed. With a central government manning these responsibilities, instead of the individual colonies, they would obtain consistent governing policies. However, as with many things in life, it was a difficult path with a lot of conflicting ideas and opponents. Much of the population was divided choosing either the
2016 is slowly approaching as 2015 comes to an end and thus ushers in a new president at the end of the year! The 2016 election will be held on November 8th, 2016 and will be the 58th quadrennial presidential election. With each presidential election comes the controversy on the basis of how they were elected. Primarily, the public’s opinion on the Electoral College and how it is the actual determining factor, in who is chosen for the presidency. The problems that may spring forward will be what the Electoral College actually is and how it works, why the Founding Fathers created the Electoral College, major criticisms on the Electoral College, and why it should be abolished.
It seems that many of the previous Presidents have only cared about themselves. I offer work to everyone. I will work for the people. Many who I have worked for and over have admired all that I have done. One woman, for example, said to me, “You are indeed very strong. I have admired your strength for some time” (A Tale 1). Although she is no longer alive, I am sure that she would continue to agree that I am what the country needs. I neither complain nor boast. I try to be as pure as possible. The American people need my leadership as much as I need them to be a
When it comes to establishing his credibility, Trump takes a very interesting approach - nearly his entire Twitter feed is filled with heinous exaggerations and blatant lies. Over the last several months, the self proclaimed ‘politician’ has made a number of false and misleading statements on the economy, healthcare, trade and terrorism, here are just a few examples: In June, Trump made a claim that economic growth had never been below zero until last quarter’s drop, when in reality, it has been below zero 42 times over the last 68 years. In another post, he declared the “real” unemployment rate to be as high as “18 to 20 percent, maybe even 21 percent.” There is absolutely no factual basis for this opinion. Trump claimed the five Taliban leaders exchanged for Sgt. Bergdahl in May of 2014 “are now back on the battlefield trying to kill us.” All five remain behind bars in Doha, Qatar where they continue to be strictly monitored, according to the State Department. Sense a pattern yet? Donald Trump will say anything and everything if he thinks it will benefit him, even if the statements he makes are utter falsehoods, which significantly compromises his credibility as a legitimate
The removal of Native Americans started when Andrew Jackson was elected President. Jackson was the candidate of a Democratic Party, which was good because he was elected at a time when national politics were becoming more democratic. Historians now refer to this trend as the Jacksonian democracy. Jacksonian democracy inforced serious limitations on Native Americans, who were not considered citizens, and women could not vote in any state. This was only the beginning of Native Americans being treated poorly.
The idea of freedom, that America, founded its principles on, has not always successfully held up. Undoubtedly when our country first started, we had the idea in mind, that our constitution would protect the needs of its people, even as those needs alter; therefore it’s wording needed to be, ductile and interpretive. In recent years, this plasticity has become functional and fair, yet in the past, politicians used it to give and revoke, power, to and from people. Prior to the civil war, though it helped spark many of the social/civil revolution we know today, liberty and freedom were a luxury enjoyed by a few people. Woman, non-whites, and low-income people had their liberties denied, questioned or altogether abolished. However these same groups
As the nation is in a bad economic crisis, a reform is needed to create a stronger and more successful united Country.
As Americans, we used to worry little about war, having enough to eat, travel, freedom, and our most basic everyday activities. The tragic events of September 11, 2001 have forever changed the American way of life. We have become more concerned with our physical safety because of the endless terror attacks in America and other countries. Americans have certainly become more patriotic since September 11. Many of us watch the news to learn of any new terror attack or major offensive against cities in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, a variety of countries in Africa, Yemen and numerous other locations. The stock exchange hit bottom on September 21 in the 8100 range and is now back over 17,000 (Pellegrini). Oil prices have been dropping, which will help to boost our slowing economy. Unemployment rates will unfortunately probably remain the same. "Manpower, Inc. said Monday that its survey of United States companies' hiring intentions for the first three months of the year barely registered a pulse, but our commitment together to boost the nation's economy will ensure a bright future. America's future seems to be based on our new ideas formed since September 11, but yet we still carry on the problems of the past. There is still many Americans living in poverty. There is still illegal drugs that infest our nation with addiction and crime that encircles the drug trade. There are many children not getting a good education and many of whom who are fearful of violence at our schools. It is up to us as Americans to face these problems head on now more than ever before.
John Adams once said "You will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it." For many generations, our ancestors have fought for the right to vote. It started with the Civil Rights Act in 1964 which made it mandatory that white schools integrate black children into their institutions. The outcome of the 1964 election was a landslide, favoring the democrats, which broached the issue of civil rights legislation. In 1964 “only 7% of eligible black citizens in Mississippi were registered; in Alabama the figure was 20% (Kernell, et. al 2014, 162). The low voter turnout rate was because people of color were required to take a literacy test. This all changed when President Johnson
Unemployment, it is all too common of a label in this day and age for the American society. In Joshua Cooper Ramo’s article, “Unemployment Nation,” he clearly states: “the government can’t hire everyone” and that there is a decrease in jobs nationally. Ramo’s article was published in the Spetember 21, 2009 TIME magazine and includes many personal tragedies that happened to real Americans who have lost their jobs and are unsuccessful in finding another employer. Many hardships are about to sweep over the United States with an increase in percentage of Americans who are jobless, but with unemployment on the rise, where or how can America create more stable jobs?
The President of the United States of America’s slogan is “Make America Great Again” in order to do this, people must look back at the past. America’s past is full of hard times, good times, and hopeful times, but the people would not know this without studying history. Without studying history people would never know the hope America still has. America has been through many tough times considering the wars, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, and moments like The Great Depression. Being able to go through all these hard times and still make it out should give Americans hope.
"The failure of national economic policy is costing us more than jobs; It has begun to weaken that uniquely American spirit of risk-taking, large ambition, and optimism about the future. We must rally them now to bold departures that rebuild our national morale as well as our material prosperity." - Mitch Daniels
Today, nearly 12 million of our fellow Americans are unemployed. Our hardest hit communities are struggling to hold on. The trend is not reversing. Government has not taken strong enough action. So what can we do about it?
In other instances, Trump has ‘kept’ to his word as well. In 2019, all undocumented immigrants were no longer in the TSA. However, this is more a result of the migration crisis where every non-Trump supporter moved out of the country. This migration crisis depleted the TSA’s population so much that the UN intervened and changed the borderlines that now mark where the TSA is. Still, Trump boasts this accomplishment at any rally that he
“I’m no fan of either one, but Donald Trump would literally be risking his 4 to 10 billion-dollar fortune by doing something like this. He would also be putting himself in the unenviable position of becoming the most hated man in America as well as possibly being criminally prosecuted for such an action.”
