A closer look at the recent phenomenon: Is banning YouTube and Twitter justifiable?
With the development of technology, computers and mobile phones started taking a remarkable part in our lives. Consequently, websites and applications with primary aim of sharing information started to develop. Today, it would not be wrong to say that the traditional ways of communication is almost totally replaced by the new ways thanks to the recent advancements. For instance, more people tend to visit newspapers’ websites instead of reading the newspaper itself. Also some other platforms such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook are founded in the last decade. Although most people agree on the benefits of these sites, there are some who argue that these sites may be harmful both for the citizens and the government. Therefore, they wish that the authorities should take the wheel in urgent situations and do the necessary regulations by means of bans or partial restrains. Whether or not it is required to ban YouTube and Twitter is a controversial issue. Yet one point is crystal clear: Banning such social networking sites is by no means justifiable.

Proponents of the idea that the ban is justifiable would say that the authorities have all the freedom to ban those sites when information concerning the government policies is at stake. Their approach is rather wrong because bans or restraints are not proper solutions to this very problem. What lies beyond this issue is that the governments did not adopt transparency policy at the first place and still keep secrets that they fear the citizens may hear of. ...s not a justifiable act both because of its consequences and insufficiency in solving problems mentioned. It is obvious that ban does not offer a solution and even in some cases cause more trouble. Furthermore, it is an intervention to the human rights. Therefore, only conclusion one can draw is that banning Twitter and YouTube is by no means justifiable. Because of this, we should make a stand to protect our rights from sordid dictators’ evil desires.
