The book Fahrenheit 451 and the movie Hunger Games both display a dystopian fiction setting. A dystopian setting is when it is a futuristic, made up universe, and the illusion of a perfect society is maintained through corporate, technological, moral, or totalitarian control. In dystopias the characters make a criticism about a current trend, societal norm, or political system. At the beginning of each of these the main characters follow through with what their government wants them to do however toward the end of each they start to do what they want or what they believe is better than what the government recommends.. Fahrenheit 451 and Hunger Games both have the use of propaganda in them. Propaganda appears in Fahrenheit 451 because Montag and the other firefighters have to burn books. The government does not believe books are something that people should have with them. They believe that you can not learn anything more from books than you can from just living your everyday life without them. The government and burning books is what is looked up to in Fahrenheit 451. The job as a firefighter is to destroy all the books. The books are not good for the community and not many people want them there. The government is what is in control of the community and everyone obeys and follows the rules or guidelines that they put out even when they are not thought to be the most realistic thing. In HUnger Games everyone is supposed to look up to the government. Even though they do things that many do not like they know that they must look up to them and accept whatever they propose. Some things may not be the best for the people of certain districts but it is what the government wants done so it is going to be done.
