The most effective tools for establishing and preserving freedom are that the government and everyone else is equal. There should be trust among the country. The government serves a purpose for the people/citizens, meaning that the government listens to what the people have to say. Establishing freedom is justified by setting laws that will keep and maintain order. Some laws that help keep us in order are the amendments, we the people have our limits and restrictions. The government too, they can not take our right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. However it is the government's job to maintain the orderly authority of the people. Some people are hot headed and they only think about themselves, therefore they are greedy and selfish. The people who manipulate and try to obtain more power than they already have are power hungry. It would be in great danger if power were in the wrong hands, and it would definitely hurt our country. Our country would be in peril and most likely at risk of bankruptcy or any terrible. That is why there are restrictions and limits to be made when deciding who to vote for leaders. The leaders or presidents go through a background check and we the people choose carefully of whom we think will be a great leader for the whole country. Yet if the president makes a suspicious or unlawful act, the president is questioned and investigated. The president can be in trial and may do a testimony. If he/she was found guilty, then the president is impeached and a new president is selected. Though, we probably will not vote, we would just be informed that the vice president will be our new president. However if the president was not found guilty, then he/she will go back and continue to do his/her duty, which is serving the country. The president is not the only one serving and bringing order to the country, soldiers, legislative, congress, judicial, and many other important government workers help obtain and secure our country. The Presidential oath of office was to swear "to preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution of the US. Lincoln ordered the military blockade of Southern ports, in which was an act of war. Only Congress could call upon war. Lincoln definitely and certainly broke the law at that time. Lincoln also violated many other laws and rules, including the first amendment. He ordered hundreds of Northern newspapers, that whom dared to speak out against him. So he shut them down. Their owners and editors were arrested for disloyalty and rebellion. Lincoln also ordered the arrest of Ohio Congressman Clement Vallandigham for the crime of speaking out against him. Lincoln could not stand the rebellions that spoke against him because he could not afford the other citizens to think the other way. There were treason against many the United States, Lincoln committed treason. He waged war upon his own country by sending out Union troops door to door in areas of Maryland, which is a Union state, to confiscate weapons. That was a violation of the second amendment of the Constitution. He committed many crimes and violation, but he is still considered an important figure to society and
