A hero, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary is "a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities". I consider Ponyboy to be the biggest hero in the novel "The Outsiders". He was able to save the children by putting his life in danger to save theirs. And he showed incredible qualities such as courage, humility and selflessness. Firstly, courage is the ability to do something you're afraid of. Ponyboy demonstrated this quality as he ran into a burning church to save the children, he put the children's lives before his and and knowingly risked his own life. Ponyboy came out of the burning church with minimal damage done to his body, but as for johnny he burned his whole body and ended up in a coma. But to johnny i think it was
