“The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. The history behind this poem is Frost had spent 3 years in England with his close friend Edward Thomas which he was commonly considered as a war poet. They had many walks in the parks together in which they would converse. When Robert Frost returned to New Hampshire in 1915 he had sent Thomas a copy of “The Road Not Taken” and was supposed to be intended as a nice way of making fun of indecision. Being more specifically the indecision that Thomas had shown when they would have their walks together. But Robert Frost didn’t mean for this poem to be about Thomas just the theme of how the poem goes and the main idea of how decisions are made. The poem “The Road Not Take” has very deep meaning when it comes down to it and how exactly you interpreted. Many people misunderstand the meaning of the poem and are quick to assume conclusions. For example like striking your own path, being different from everyone else, and to seize the day or live in the moment.
