In the poem " The Race" by Sharon Olds, tells a story of a young girl who is on her way to see her dying father. This poem is able to describe all the different interactions she is faced with in just matters of minutes she takes to reach her father. Through this adventure the author includes literary devices, to help the reader understand the young women's point of view, such as parallelism, imagery, and personification. In the beginning of the poem many devices can already be identified. However, the one that stands out the most is parallelism.
