Poem Analysis: Good Bones By Maggie Smith

In my reading of “Good Bones” by Maggie Smith was rather a revelation just how another human aspects and perspective of our world. In this poem, I see an insecure person that is afraid of society. Also, the human wants to keep their children away from society because they made a point of the half of the world is evil and wants to keep them shielded from it. I roughly thought about this poem and how it was powerful in word selection however It appeared to me as a person detested about the world’s economy, plus, the privileged of consuming all the earth’s natural resources. Although it may seem that way it makes the world thought-provoking by people and their stupidity because one day we will lose all resources and back to off the grind. The person explains of life being short however, which is true to some extend because life is something precious and we human are fortunate to live. Even some don’t live to reach the certain amount of years to live life to the fullest. American is in a huge crisis because we are in debt by greedy business men and looking to find the solution by money-making into war with other countries for their resources. That has caused many complications in United States and I don’t have a problem with people defending their children from society. But I don’t know what the writer meant from when she said “bagged, sunk in the lake”. I reflect and thought of this as psychotic and was shocked of seeing this in a poem. In other words, I reflect of how crazy this world can be and which makes it worse because there are senseless and very mischievous people in this world. The feeling of people that are psychotic puts me on edge and makes me watch out who I talk to and become friends
