The world would be a better place if animals had a voice. Just because they’re animals does it make their existence less important? Too many animals are dying each day for no apparent reason. Why are poaching, slaughter, neglect and pollution still happening in this day and age? Can’t the government do more about this? I am passionate about the animals needing a voice and change. The government needs to help to keep them alive with laying penalties and tougher laws, for poachers in particular. Poachers should face a death penalty, especially if they have already been convicted before. Give them a taste of their own medicine, and make them realize what they’re doing is utterly disgraceful and inhumane.

If the governments affected put further time into discussing laws for punishing poachers, we can reduce this threat, which will make the world a happier place. You ask how? According to ‘what will happen to the local ecosystem if rhinos disappear,’ in 2014, a recorded 1215 poor innocent rhinos were poached, that’s one every 8 hours! Large animals, including elephants and rhinos are known as ecosystem engineers. Without them, there would be no one to push over trees, and stomp on shrubby areas in the wild. This helps to keep the grass low, otherwise the open grassland will overtake, and it will be harder for other animals to graze. We need these animals to help other species and plants to survive. No rhinos mean less grazing areas, less herbivore and fewer predators. If the government had a more significant law for the poachers, it would reduce the deaths of our beloved animals and prevent not only rhinos, but also the elephants, gorillas, lions and zebras from becoming extinct. Within a few decades to come, there will be a drastic reduction on the wild population. If poaching doesn’t stop soon, you will be incapable of seeing rhinos up close and personal, adventuring around the wild under the bright sun and coming back home to tell everyone your stories, there will only be a few species left.
