Pleading Innocent

I can’t quite remember how it happened or exactly when; maybe a couple of days ago. I can’t even remember what it was about. Something about me getting home late all the time or my attitude… whatever it was this time- to be honest I’m used to this now. The same thing happens every single day of my life and I just don’t seem to care about what my family says about me anymore. All I can remember is storming out of the house but I don’t remember going back.
I woke up this morning to find myself in my best friend’s house but I don’t remember going to her house either but I’m at home now. She was sitting in the room waiting for me to wake up and when I did, the first thing I noticed was the handcrafted chair in her room; the back is curved outwards and the legs are engraved with an elegant flowery pattern; the girly items aren’t really my kind of thing but I do like the chair. After having studied the chair for a few seconds I looked up into Hannah’s eyes and asked her how I got here. Although I was interested I didn’t really pay much attention to what she was saying. Turns out that the argument happened yesterday and it’s about the time I got home the night before- just as I thought. Apparently after I stormed out of the house I got a bus to her house and told her everything. It all happened when we were eating dinner and after Hannah telling me what happened or at least what I told her last night, I’m starting to recall what happened but I still can’t remember what it was that got my parents started.

The family of four sat around the dining table eating home cooked dinner consisting of chicken, peas and rice and then Sophie’s mum asked Hannah,
‘So where were you yesterday and why did you get home so l...

Sophie was fed up of arguing with her parents by now so she just got up and calmly said,
‘Thanks for the meal mum’, took her plate to the kitchen and then said, ‘I’m going to go do my homework’.
Sophie’s parents remained silent and watched her silently disappear up the stairs, carrying her school bag and folder.

Since then I haven’t spoken much to my parents but that’s fine. I know it sounds heartless but I don’t really care because I’m so used to being in this situation. I know it’s wrong that I raised my voice when I spoke to my parents especially considering I did that to cover up my lie but I don’t see a point in apologising. I can’t change what happened last night but it will be forgotten soon and I’ll go back to talking to my parents normally, as will they with me. I know it.
