Plato’s Allegory of the cave can be seen in many different ways. One of the ways we could look at it is by comparing it to the real world. According to Plato, the prisoners are kept in a cave, chained up facing the wall, not being able to move around or even turn their heads to look around. There is fire behind the prisoners that the prisoners cannot see; however, the fire creates shadows of objects which could be seen by the prisoners. Since the prisoners have been in the cave all their lives, they have no outside knowledge and they assume the shadows are real. Plato considered the prisoners to have little or no knowledge at all since they did not try to find out more or even try to understand what was going on. As these prisoners were taken
