Petroleum Engineering
As a petroleum engineer, one would have to apply their "technical skills and knowledge" to solve different challenges. They connect an area that lies just below the surface and top to bring oil and gas from a reservoir to the to where they need it to be. Their aim is always to work economically as well as safely. The diverse topics covered by petroleum engineering are closely related to the earth sciences. Petroleum engineering topics include economics, geology, geochemistry, geomechanics, geophysics, oil drilling, geopolitics, knowledge management, seismology, team building, teamwork, tectonics, thermodynamics, well logging, well completion, oil and gas production, reservoir development, and pipelining. A petroleum engineer must acquire knowledge in areas which include petrophysics, drilling and product operations, reservoir engineering, production geology, production technology, field development economics and of course a lot of math with an emphasis on a lot'. Entry requirements include: aeronautical engineering, astrophysics, chemical engineering, civil engineering, earth sciences, and mechanical engineering. Working in this field means you also have to learn to manage material resources and practice contractor relationships to supervising drilling personnel. They work in multidisciplinary teams alongside other engineers, scientists, drilling teams and contractors. Schools that offer such studies and programs include Texas A & M University, Texas Tech University, The University of Texas at Austin, Stanford University, and University of Oklahoma with their Departments of Petroleum Engineering'. Potential candidates must show technical capability, strong business awareness, analytical and creative skills, managerial potential, the ability to motivate staff at all levels, the ability to work internationally and in offshore environments, team working skills, drive and enthusiasm, the ability to solve complex problems, tackle challenges, flexibility and ability to work on a range of projects, and computer literacy.
The typical work activities and what you might expect as a petroleum engineer would be liaising with geoscientists, production and reservoir engineers, and other such people to predict production potential. They also compile development plans using mathematical models and select accurate tubing size and suitable equipment for their plans and move onto designing "completions", which are the part of the well that communicates with the reservoir rock and fluids. Next, they design systems that will help the flow. For example, I can across some information that stated they use submersible pumps to help the flow. Of course, it is always important to keep a close eye on the fluid's behavior and its production and managing how a set of different wells might interact with one another.
For example, Hydrofracking; What is hydrofracking? Gas industries use hydrofracking to extract natural gases from shale ground in order to power Americans homes. When gas industries hydrofrack, they dig ten-thousand feet into the mantle of the earth and turn perpendicular to the t into shale layers with cement and steel casing to prevent leaks. Then rupture the layer of sediment with high pressures of water, sand and a plethora of chemicals. Once the chemicals are saturated in the crevices of the drill site, they extract the excess fluid and then ship them to market.
A pipeline welder is my post secondary plan. A pipeline welder is someone who travels place to place to weld on pipelines. My uncle is a pipeline welder he travels to offshore rigs or to different countries to weld on pipes that his company uses to drill for oil. These welders make between $50,000 to $185,000 a year. This job requires at least a high school diploma others employers look for certifications from technical schools.
Gas in shale formations are“low in permeability,” making it very tedious to extract, but with the increase in technological knowledge in fracking and horizontally drilling into shale beds, the vast reserves of natural gas resource could be extracted (4). Fracking is a large industrial operation that boost the “productivity of a oil or gas well” (5). It is a process by which, under very high pressure, a mixture of water, chemicals, and sand, are pumped into shale formations that causes fractures in the rocks to open wider or create new fractures that would allow otherwise trapped oil and gas to flow into the wells (6).
...the action of drilling is going on because so that if the same incident ever happen again, their will be more men to take the first aid action in trying to stop the leak. Also maybe the company should change the type of pipe they are using to engage in transferring the drilled oil because it might be the material used to make the pipe that is weaken and ended up causing the oil company billions of dollars.
Oil provided new fuel for transportation and manufacturing, even railroads were able to convert to oil. Oil helped manufacturing plants and farms move to a cheaper source of energy. Another significant factor of oil is that it helped encourage automobile production as well as roads. The production of the Interstate highway led to the movement of people and goods (Champagne, Harpham 13). Rapid industrialization of the Gulf Coast region sparked. By 1929 in Harris County, 27 percent of all manufacturing employees worked in refineries. By 1940 the capacity of the refineries had increased fourfold. The oil and gas industries carried a boom-and-bust mentality (Oliena 1). The economy flourish at times and failed other times, because the prices would rise and fall. When new oil was discovered in a particular place it brought about more people, overcrowding the schools and new housing. Yet a couple years later the town could experience a bust creating poverty and making the town a ghost town. The oil and gas industry transformed the government and its role with the economy. The Texas Railroad Commission was extended to regulate energy and to promote well-spacing rules. Higher education benefitted through the oil and gas industry ( Munch, Francis, and Rundell 604). In 1923 oil was discovered in the West Texas Permian Basin on university land. The Permanent University Fund was split up between the
The oil & gas industry is among the largest industries in the world. The sector generates large revenues and employs a large number of people in order to meet the worldwide demand for energy.
Can I be the best in this field? Is this what drives my economic engine? The answer was clear. Always wanting to be in the oil and gas industry, this program was more satisfying than being a petroleum engineering major, one could say my transitions from majors went from good to great. First of my three circles, passion.
finding new ways to drill for oil and also refine it more efficiently to ensure that
Academic requirements are strict and wide-ranging: Physics, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, materials science, statistics and engineering courses provide the base for any aspiring rocket scientist. Some colleges offer a degree in aerospace engineering; others offer a more generalized engineering degree with some coursework in aerospace engineering. These courses might include aerospace guidance systems, extreme-altitude material science, and the physics of high-altitude radiation. Internships, summer jobs, and any experience in the field are helpful, as entry into this industry is highly competitive. Many aspirants may need to relocate to California, Washington State, or Texas, where the majority of defense industry aerospace work is done, to work for companies such as NASA, Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Two years into their job an aerospace engineer can be planning on being Junior members of research staff are swamped with work, both in the lab and in offices, crunching data and organizing research. More like "lab assistants," their early years are marked by relatively menial tasks (testing of equipment, tracking results) with little input into the testing or recommendation process.
A petroleum engineer must obtain a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Some engineering programs offer field work while in school to get the student equated with the type of work in the petroleum engineering field. They are required to license to work in the public with others are under another petroleum engineer. Licensing requires an individual to have a degree from an ABET- accredited program, they must also pass the Fundamental of Engineering exam and they must also pass the Prof...

Throughout my school career I have always loved chemistry. In Chemistry there was always a sense that there was more, there was always something new and exciting to be discovered and theories to be proven (or even disproven). Chemistry was the main subject with a real practical aspect to it during school and it is this, along with my genuine fascination with the subject, which fuels my desire to study it further.
Industrial Engineering Industrial Engineering is concerned with the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, equipment, information, and energy in the most efficient manner possible. Efficiency is one of an engineers major concerns. Being able to complete the job, solve the problem, and put the solution in process are all very important, but making the process efficient allows less waste and more profit. It draws upon specialized knowledge and skill in the mathematical, physical, and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design to specify, predict and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems. Their jobs are also concerned with performance, reliability, cost efficiency, quality control, plant design, and management of human resources.
An education is best valued when it is used to serve one’s community at a larger aspect- this belief has been imprinted in my judgment from the commencement of my undergraduate study. This persuasion and a natural aptitude for energy science and mathematics induced me that petroleum engineering is the most fitting career for me and developed a sense in my mind that higher study is mandatory to be competent in this field. I desire a master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering followed by a PhD not only because it is the most fulfilling way to exercise my natural talent as a scholar but also it will give me the opportunity to serve my country as she has paucity of researchers in this discipline.
My career plan is to go into mechanical engineering. A mechanical engineer is the person who designs and make machines like generators. Engineering is a difficult and competitive field. Engineering requires a bachelor's degree and a good understanding of STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math). I would have to pass an engineering exam to get my license. Some school near me that offer the degree I want are Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan Tech, and Western Michigan.
