The Best Leader Of Russia from 1696-1725: Peter The Great
“It is my great desire to reform my subjects, and yet I am ashamed to admit that I am unable to reform myself.”- Peter The Great Peter The Great was the leader of Russia in the late 1600’s and early 1700’s. He did many good things and some bad things for Russia. Before Peter came into power, Russia was still in the Middle Ages. Peter helped launch Russia into the modern age by educating his people, modernizing technology and making new military advances. Some people may make the argument that Peter was a bad leader because of how he taxed his people heavily in order to fund these new advancements.

Peter realized that his people were going to need to be educated about his advancements if he wanted to be successful. He hired experts to educate his people on these new advancements. Peter The Great also focused heavily on advancing industry and helped the middle class, as it was struggling at the time. He was focusing on industry because he realized that Russia needed industry in order to produce more.
