When making an argument or using persuasion, pictures are useful in that they can be intricate and persuade the audience in a certain way that the text alone could not. However, the simultaneous ability of pictures to be simplistic and natural also makes them ideal for delivering ideas that are modest and blunt. The Endangered Wildlife Trust combined this ability with text to contradict a persuasive technique, common belief, among its audience and inspire a specific type of action.
The EWT implements conservation research and action programs, supports biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, and advocates the sustainable use of natural resources. EWT establishes dedicated working groups through which the objectives of the Trust can be achieved. These working groups are the operational units of the organization and are essentially self-managed, harnessing the talent and enthusiasm of a network of specialists and stakeholders in an area of conservation priority. Guilt is the feeling of responsibility for some misconduct and encourages a desire to make amends and to repair a self-image. Guilt is a type of technique that affects everyone in one way or anther, so anyone that sees this this advertisement will feel some sort of guilt. The advertisement arouses guilt in the audience, by providing a relatively distressing yet realistic picture of the consequences of dropping litter, or not picking up other peoples’ litter. The fact that many people may have dropped litter or overlooked other waste on the roads, accidentally or on purpose, is what provokes the sense of guilt as it produces a sense of responsibility for what is presented in the
