Writing Assignment #2: Persuasive Essay We Need Zoos Zoos provide an invaluable service and therefore should not be closed. Animals are able to reproduce easier. They are able to eat more. Kids of all ages enjoy seeing and learning about endangered species. The first reason is that animals are able to reproduce easier. In the wild, some animals are not able to reproduce because their predators attack them, and their young. There’s not always enough shelter for their young so they are out in the open and in danger. In the wild, there can be a shortage of food for their young which can make it more difficult to survive. Another reason why is because they are able to eat more. Out in the wild there’s more animals to fight with to get the
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to look at the world from another point of view? Try looking at it from an animal's perspective. Surviving on your own, hiding from predators, and many more. Thats what zoologist do. Zoologist study the origin and development of animals species, their habits and behavior towards each other, and the way they act in different environments. They also do research to learn how animal diseases are developed and their traits are passed from generation to generation. They have a program out there called Greenpeace. Greenpeace is basically a volunteer system for people who want to learn more about animals and interact with them. Greenpeace is a very challenging job to achieve. In order to get very high in the career you start off with the basics of Volunteering and working your way up. It doesn’t really need a specific education unless working in the science field or program.
For thousands of years scientist have been performing vivisections on animals to find information on new chemicals, drugs, and vaccines. Vivisection is when scientist perform dissections among living animals mostly for the purpose of educating and retrieving information. Experimenting on animals has become the tool that has helped us comprehend the body functions of an animal and how a disease transforms the bodily functions, but over the years it’s caused animal rights activists to question the usefulness and the sincerity of using animals for this purpose. Although animal research has been helpful in the past, it is morally wrong in the sense that experimenting on animals is not the only way to collect information. There are other alternatives
Not to mention that all food webs need a predator along with the consumers, producers and decomposers. Each play a very important role in balancing the environment out and hunters that are very important predator in our environment. Without them, deer would be so overpopulated they would be destroying your yards and gardens on a desperate search for food. Deer feed on plants that are low to the ground. The higher their numbers soar the harder it is for them to find food within their reach and end up starving to death. Starving to death is not the only problem deer have to
There are a lot of characteristics that can help a predator hunt and a prey survive. Even a single trait that helps the species survive better can change the numbers of survivors drastically. An example of this is the pocket mice video we watched. The land is now black, which was once white because of a volcano eruption. The mice lived unnoticed in the white land but because the land is now black they are easily noticed and eaten. But then over generations their skin color soon starts to change and it is black, which helps them survive drastically. This helps them mate and the population soon changes.
Public zoos are not the only type of zoo that costs a lot of money to maintain. Animal collectors in the United States and many other places will seek out endangered and exotic animals to own in their own private zoo enclosures. Marianna Grigoryan writer of Private zoos boasting exotic animals – the new status symbol of Armenia's elite said, “Private zoos with lions, tigers and bears are emerging as a popular hobby for the wealthy and powerful, and the government does not seem inclined to intervene. Instead, recent amendments to wildlife legislation seem to facilitate this pastime. Private citizens are allowed to own wild animals, including endangered species, as long as they provide areas for the animals that ensure their ‘life, health, and
Millions of people visit zoos every year, not knowing that they can be very inhumane to most animals. Zoos may be a very good tourist attraction and a good field trip, that could be very educational if it is a good zoo, but they should not be allowed to carry all of the animals it does. With zoos carrying many different types of animals only certains should be held in the zoo. Only animals that are about to be extinct should be in the zoos. Since there are very few of an animal that is about to go extinct, it would be a very safe option to have them kept there.
One reason we should get rid zoos is in the wild there are way more animals than the zoos. In “Life span of elephants in zoos and in the wild,” African elephants live up to 15-20 years in zoos and in the wild they live up to 50-55. That is way different. There are some endangered species in the zoos and they are dying way earlier than in the wild. Also Asian elephants are living up to 15-20 years in zoos and 40-45 years in the wild.
Have you ever heard the roar of a lion?Have you ever seen elephants so close that you could practically touch them? If you have, most likely you saw these great creatures in a zoo. If some people get their way, most zoos everywhere will be abolished. What if all zoos closed down? If all zoos shut their gates, the excitement and knowledge they bring to all of us would be gone!
Leah Thrasher Mrs. Knox English IV March 16, 2014 Animal Rights When a pitbull named Oogy was first adopted, he was practically an unrecognizable dog. He was pure white except for the left side of his face which shone off rose pink scar tissue. Where his left ear should have been stood only a stump the size of a thumb. His mouth was lopsided with stitches coming out of the right end, and he looked more like a burn victim than a dog, yet he had an imperative look of joy about him. Let them have the fun they deserve, and the freedom they need.to help animals not harm animals. Animals are not ours. Zoos should be shut down because animals get treated like slaves, they get torn from their families, and they get frustrated. The first reason that zoos should be shut down is animal slavery.
In the last ten years over 7,000 rhinos have been poached, constantly putting the species in danger. While people are innocently hunting animals, some species are being put into danger. For example, the rhinos, if poachers do not stop hunting them they will soon all become extinct. Poaching will not stop; therefore, zoos become a safe haven for animals. They are able to see animals that normally are too far away. Zoos are also there for a lot of other reasons. One being the fact that without them, many animals would no longer be able to properly breed and produce. Zoos will help these animals reproduce and impact the population. Zoos are also trying to be more humane by making their home more natural by adding more nature and less contrasting colors. As well as giving up some animals like elephants due to the fact that there is no way to give them a natural home. These animals are being cared for and pampered throughout their life, as well as educate most visitors that come. Zoos are able to keep animals safe and make sure that they can have a nice long life while people constantly care and try to make their life better, although
The final reason is these zoos allow us to study animals. Firstly, breeding programs help endangered species live on. This is essential because it makes life more compelling; it benefits humankind as well. Endangered species have important health benefits for us.
Animals benefit humans many ways; food sources, entertainment, and cosmetic testing are all examples, one of the most important is through medical research and experimenting. In the past dogs have aided to our discovery of insulin, monkeys have helped us find the vaccine for polio, and mice have helped us discover the vaccine for rabies. Today pigs are used in some cases for skin grafts for burn victims. But should have we done this and should we continue? Although these advancements in medicine by use of animals has benefited humans, many people still oppose the use of animals for these purposes. A great deal of these people argue it is morally wrong for animals to be used for medical purposes because it often causes pain, shortened life spans, and emotional distress .”For nearly a century, drug and chemical safety assessments have been based on laboratory testing involving rodents, rabbits, dogs, and other animals. Aside from the ethical issues they pose—inflicting both physical pain as well as psychological distress and suffering on large numbers of

There is many people who could be that one person to give that pet what it needs. ASPCA is a place where they shelter many animals that are in need of a place to stay.
