Six in ten americans have had at least one experience with adoption. Many people who are adopted try to look for their real parents sometime throughout their lives. Although this could be a good thing after adopting parents would like privacy and protection of their new child. Some parents who give their child up for adoption may be physically unstable. This could mean letting them be apart of your child's life could provide a bad influence for your child. Parents want to keep their child safe and want protection and privacy for not only themselves but also their child. Birth parents may also want to meet their child because they once could not provide protection for their child. When choosing adoption this could potentially mean giving your child up forever. For parents choosing adoption they should consider if they will ever want to meet their child or be in their child's life. Many parents think of this and change their minds later in life. Open adoption may be a choice for parents with these feelings. This lets the child get what they need and have what's best for them but still let them know their real parents. With open adoption parents can still keep in touch and know who their children are. Parents are not forced into open adoption. In other situations the adoptive parents may choose whether the child gets to meet their biological parents or not. Open adoption may be what's best for the child but will still let the parents keep in touch with their child. Some children may go to a foster home to let their parents get help. Some children who are adopted or are put in foster homes may have parents that are addicted to drugs or alcohol. In some cases children may be adopted from a step parent. Some parents may never attempt to meet their child. Others could spend months or years searching for their
