Persuasive Essay: Is It Worth Destroying Teens?

People everywhere say students don’t have the right to complain or argue. Let me tell you... they do! We get pressured by society all the time, whether that be teachers, parents or other teens. During 25 years of living, we are pressured to achieve high grades in 12 GCSEs, 3 or 4 A levels, a degree, get a well-earning job and have a social life. Juggling all this isn’t easy and it turns some people insane. My evidence to support this is, 32% of under 16s have considered suicide from school stress. With this information, you would expect things to change for the better. This means, less people would pressure teens because of these large amounts of suicides. Having said this, everyone seems to think that school is an enjoyable place where everyone is respected. That’s why nothing changes... no one knows the truth. We are always pressured to achieve, and this causes us to become stressed and anxious. After all this, we aren’t allowed to complain about all the homework or coursework because “It has to be done”. Imagine your child/future child getting good grades or getting bullied, which would you choose? Sorry to tell you, they come hand in hand. If they are achieving high grades in certain subjects, raise their hand in every lesson and use mature vocabulary, they will get called “geek” or “nerd”. Due to of all this 1/10 children 5-16 have a clinically diagnosable mental disorder, that can truly affect their everyday lives. Such as, depression or the constant thought to commit suicide. After millions of years of evolution I would have thought that mental disorders would have been a thing of the past, and I people, such as teachers, parents and other teens, shouldn’t be causing them.
