High School is over. Over the years I had many challenges with how many days I missed and stuff to do with my classes, also just people in plain general (I almost got into fights multiple times). Do not let people bother you, just know you are better than them and will do better things in life. Stay positive! Sometimes in my classes though, I just would not get the material being said and tutoring did not help at all and sometimes you get the awful "teachers" that cannot teach. I had very few successes like passing each grade and graduating soon, what I had the most of though was failures. Also that I should not let pother people bother me or shape me into their own desire. Keep your record straight too, colleges or other schools hate to see a bad record and may not let you in because of it. Let high school be fun and stress free, it is almost the end and it really comes fast. I cannot believe next week it is all done and a majority of us will be leaving this demon spawn once and for all. I will miss the teachers I had over the years but I am so glad to leave and finally get away from all this headache. I am ready to go where I belong (which is near the beach and studying Marine Biology), I really hate looking at the same scenery over and over again, I want to experience life and go live it instead of being coped up at home because "I have school tomorrow." What I really want to do is live in Europe, my goal is to move to the other side of the world, I really want to see it one day and hope I can get enough money to make all that come true one day. First things first though, I need a college degree and a decent paying job to be able to do everything I want. I despise living so poorly and I want to live the high life because being stuck in a small home for 18 years makes you go crazy. I cannot stand Dallas or Mesquite anymore, 18 years is too long in one place I want to see something new. Along the way through high school though, there will be people who say "You cannot do it" or "You will never make it" do not listen to them. Education is a huge topic of controversy, society is always trying to reform what we know as education today. Right now, the first 12 years of education are entirely free for students directly, but in the end are paid for by the taxpayers of the town. The question is, why should only grades k-12 be free why not a college education too? On the other hand, there are some exceptions to free schooling at the k-12 levels. The most prominent being, Private schooling, most towns in the United States have at least one if not many private schools. They require a certain amount in tuition for each of its students every year. An example of this, in my town Salem, NH one of the most known private catholic schools is St. Joseph 's. When I was in elementary school, I fell behind in many of my classes. This inefficiency was further expanded when my family moved to New Jersey from Massachusetts, and my parents could see that I was having issues. So they took me to therapists and tutors to see what could be done, and they came to the conclusion that I had ADHD. My parents chose not to medicate me, and instead sent to me to various tutoring programs, some of which I stayed in until high school. My grades were average, so there were no complaints. When I was growing up, I struggled a great deal in school! In third grade I started a new school. They had three tiers of classes. One with the regular kids, another with kids that needed a little bit of help in math and reading, and thirdly, a category that had mentally retarded children learning life skills. I went to school and goofed off with my friends and did enough work to get a decent 70 on my work and go home. The education system has been changing in recent years and the same problems that existed continue to get worse as years pass. Problems that were seen as minor at first have now grown. How to change the public higher education system has been a major topic of discussion but there has still been no major action taken. We struggle to figure out how much funding is needed for higher education and where it should come from. Our people continue to suffer from an underfunded high cost system. The wealthy minority of people continue to be the only ones accounted for and it is time to change this. We need to adapt to the changes and the costs that continue to rise. Currently, a college education has turned in the base necessity in securing a job in different companies and although some people might think college is not worth the debt, in a long run it actually is.
High school can be tough for many teenagers. Some students may feel as if the classes they are taking are boring or the material being taught will not help them later on in life. These students begin to not show up for class and then their grades start lowering drastically. Next, these students come up with the idea that dropping out is the easiest and fastest way to escape all the stress that is caused by academics. However, they need to start looking at the bigger picture and asking themselves if quitting school is going to help them reach their personal goals. Most people want to live a life filled with laughter and have the least amount of trouble as possible. Dropping out of high school will not bring joy to anyone, it will only affect the dropout and also our society in a negative way.

Everyone has challenges in their life and mine were speech and depression. From preschool to second grade I had to take “special” classes because my English was far more behind than everyone else’s. At the time I didn’t notice anything different, though now I realize that without those classes school would of been twice as hard. I overcame this challenge by simply going to school and learning. Life After High School I’ve just entered my senior year of high school. I know that this is a very important year. I have a lot of decisions to make and not much time to make them. These decisions will either make or break my life, and I want to make sure that I make them to the best of my ability, because there is no turning back. Being a teenager isn’t easy. You have a lot of things on your mind, a lot of things to worry about, a lot of things to carry and when I mean carry, I mean both physically and mentally. During the 17 years of my life that I have lived so far, I believe that I have never carried this much before. Part of it I think is because it’s senior year. Actually I think that 's the biggest reason why I feel so much pressure on my shoulders. I’m pretty sure that everyone can agree on this, especially if you’ve been through it before. I was sometimes slower at completing a written paper or an assignment. In open discussions about material we had just read, things weren’t sticking with me after reading to feel confident to raise my hand and be active with discussions. I would have to search for answers in my memory for some time. Sometimes answers just weren’t retrieved at all. I became frustrated in school often, and eventually developed a negative attitude toward school. I struggled a lot with this because I knew I could do better. Every day I prepared myself for failure because I lacked the tools and strategies that I needed to succeed in school. Granted, I got by, but I could have been a much better student. I earned low B’s and C’s, but should have been A’s.
Schools can give responsibility to students but never without a cost. Students should have to chance to prove their worth to schools and show how responsible they can be as adults. When students go to college classes as high schoolers they sometimes tend to have more free time during those times. If a child has enough responsibility to take those classes they should have enough to leave school and be trusted to come back to school after their free time is over. Although leaving school early is not something that is smiled upon it should be because some students are ahead and can work their schedule to allow extra time because of hard work in early years.

This can lead to a loss of interest in school and school events, such as a sports, clubs, or after school programs. Teens start to prioritize other things over their education. Every year, over 1.2 million students will leave school without earning a high school diploma in the United States alone (“11”). That’s a student every 26 seconds – or 7,000 a day (“11”).
