Recommended: A visit to a museum report

Diana Briceno June 26, 2015 HUM1020 Ref#849144 Prof. Remek Museum Visitation Paper While museums are not the best place to take someone on a date, I took my boyfriend to experience FIU Frost Museum with me. As soon as I walked in, I felt the sense of peace inside. The outside of the building was remarkable and was a beautiful piece of architecture. There were actually a couple of sculptures on the way to the museum that caught my eye & they had me intrigued. Walking into the museum, we were told to sign in and that we could explore the museum for ourselves before we take a look at the exhibition. We started off by going to the Francien Rutwich Gallery, in which I saw a couple of paintings that I was drawn to. The most beautiful object that I could find was called “The Intersection of a Table and a Piece of Lace (2009)” by Leyden Rodriguez Casanova, born in 1973,Cuba. The idea of the piece of art was very simple, but yet so elegant at the same time. The lighting was perfect and the shadows were sharp and this made a basic table on its side come to life. This brought me so much joy because it made me think about how anything can be beautiful. While it gave me joy, I also began to question what brought the artist the motivation to create something like this. …show more content…

This painting was called “Buena Intencion (2004)” by Jose Badia, born in 1959, Cuba. The painting was of a hungry dog on a leash that was tied to a pole, being teased by its owner with food. I found this being very cruel and self-centered. I have a soft spot in my heart for animals, especially dogs. I wonder if the artist was mad at the time. Was he the one starving the dog? Did he enjoy making this? Is this a positive sign to bring awareness about mistreating animals? All of those questions ran through my mind at the

Both images were produced during the 13th Century. The image of Rathnasambhava, the Transcendent Buddha of the South was produced in Tibet during an interesting period of the country’s religious history. The branch of Tibetan Buddhism is led by a religious and sometimes political leader called the Dalai Lama. It was during the 13th Century during the reign of Kublai Khan, around the time of the production of this painting, that Tibet experienced the first incarnation of the Dalai Lama. One has to wonder if this painting is somehow related to that occurrence.
