Personal Narrative: My Mother

My mom and I have a very strong relationship. She loves me and I love her so much. She is sweet, caring, helpful, a strong leader, and a great role model. My mom has taught me so much and without her I would not love what I love today. When my mom was younger she loved to play soccer. She also enjoyed many other sports like basketball, volleyball and track, but soccer was her most favorite. She started playing soccer when she was in high school and was one of the strongest players on her team. When kids are young most of the time they look up to their parents and want to be just like them. When I was a little kid I was just like that. I would always say, “Mom when I grow up I want to be just like you.” When I was in about 3rd grade I really wanted to find a sport that I enjoyed and my mom really helped influence me in my decision to try soccer. …show more content…

Many of the kids on my team were mean and they bullied me. But my mom was always there for me when I was struggling and did not want to go back to soccer practice. She encouraged and influenced me to stick through and persevere. She would always comfort me and make me feel better again. Even today when I am disappointed she always helps lift my spirits. It was my mom’s encouragement and support that helped me endure the year of soccer with the mean girls on my team. When I finally had a new team with nicer and more encouraging and uplifting teammates I actually started enjoying myself. It was also such a relief to not be afraid of being bullied every single practice. As I began to feel more comfortable at my practices I also started to improve which helped me feel much more confident. It also helped that my mom was offered to help coach my team.
