My mom (Jennifer Scott) has lived a life full of sacrifice and doing what needs to be done for the good of others. Scott joined the military when she was in high school really forced her to depend on herself. She looked to sports as an escape and a way to keep herself busy. Participated in sports because I knew that was something that would help me keep my grades up, so that’s why I played 3 sports all through high school to keep me motivated it kept me around people and I’m a people person, but yet I’ve always experienced being in a room full of people and still feeling like I was by myself. Scott was only a freshman in high school when her mom and dad got a divorce. I don’t knock my parents for that. And don’t get me wrong Grandma was always around, but it made me very independent. At a early age it made me very independent. Despite needing to become independent earlier than others, Scott holds no grudges against her parents. Getting out of high school and going into the military was not her initial plan. She had dreams of being an OBGYN. She always knew that that is what she wanted to do, but unfortunately she had a change of heart when she got to The University of Oregon. I took a lot of medical classes because that’s what my high school specialized in. I just found out that that’s not really what I was interested in. From there she had to figure something out to support herself and most importantly her newborn daughter. With some encouragement from her friends she decided to enlist in the Air National Guard. Me and God had a conversation, I was like is this the right thing to do? Cause I knew the sacrifice I would be making. I knew that I would have to leave you for a period of time. You know?
