Personal Narrative: My Collapse Time

I was just kicking off my shoes, happy that it was Friday! I must’ve dozed off. I just remember waking up with a million missed FaceTimes, calls, and messages from Mia. I checked the time. It was only 4:00 pm. I’d only been asleep for about an hour. What did she need? Was she okay? Why did she attempt to reach me so many times? A few messages later I found out that Mia was in fact okay. And I was in her living room quicker than the blink of an eye. It was probably around 8 or 9 in the evening. So Mia’s dad took us to the mall. We met up with another friend of ours. Her name is Emily Holland. It was getting closer and closer to the mall’s closing time. Emily and I were suspicious of something, after her phone dinged. But we decided to let it be for a little while and see what’s up with her. She left the room to “go to the bathroom”. So, we walked down stairs and into the living room a few moments later to find not the same Mia that had left the room, this one was in tears. That message was not so good. We had our sweatshirts on instantly. You were able to feel the wind, brushing against your face and any other skin that was exposed to the air. You can smell the burn of firewood as you hear groups of friends and family laugh and make s’mores and food over the fire. Each time you stepped on the sidewalk you could hear the crunch of the leaves beneath your feet. We ran around, then slowed down for a little while. As we were approaching the front of the neighborhood, we saw a Donato’s car begin to enter the neighborhood. We knew other than the college kids, we were the only people to order pizza at this hour. So we started running, fast and faster. We were all out of breath. Not due to the running, but from the crisp burn our throats received with each time we started laughing. As well as trying to catch our breath. We eventually made it back to Mia’s house. Just in time to see him knock on her door. We took the pizza, and paid him. We all started laughing. Including the man who just gave us the pizza. We laughed our way up the steps and to Mia’s front porch, unlocked the door and walked inside and set it down on the table.
