To my soulmate and Jaan, I know sometimes life can be difficult, and I know it’s me who sometimes makes it that way. I can promise you that I don’t do it knowingly and I want the best for you in any possible way. It’s why I’m dedicating this work to you. I know you 're probably proof reading this right now wondering why the hell I gave it to you to proof read, but I know you 'd probably never read it other wise; I know you love me and would do anything for me, but lets face it, it’s true. I can not express to you how much I want you to be the best you can be, so I 'm writing a handbook to help you understand the underlying meaning of life and what you can do to be the best you can be. I’m not implying that we’re all doomed to hell if we don’t follow this righteous path, but it’s the little things that count, right? It’s the little things that make this life worthwhile before an eternity of suffering… just kidding. Or am I? I guess we’ll find out. The inevitable is coming: when you go off to law school and I 'm wherever I am testing food for E. coli. We’ll become busy and forget to call to talk about our day or say those three words. Hopefully this work will ground you and I both, bringing us back to what matters most: happiness.

Sometimes the sorrow that we feel seems so far from happiness, that we think we will never be happy again. Joy always feels farther and more joyous when we’re sad, grieving, or hurting. It’s like thinking about God when we’re in a time of need. We feel like God is punishing us and that we’ll never be forgiven. But, as the wheel of fortune keeps turning, we know that there are better times to come; we should look forward to that, instead of dwelling in the past or our present
