Justice “I’m hungry, let’s get those cookies we have on the counter top table.” My younger sister, Samantha always got hungry right before mom would cook dinner. I looked over to see what cookies she was talking about. To my left were fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. I could almost feel the warm melting chocolate chips in my mouth. “Okay sis, don’t you remember what happened last time I took cookies out the cookie jar before dinner. Mom gave me extra chores for two weeks. I had to clean the bathrooms, take out the trash and wash dishes. You know I don’t like washing dishes. My fingers get all wrinkly and feel slimy and stuff.” I stopped talking to think of a plan. “Sam! You can go get them.” I yelled. “What, Why do I have to go? I was in a stage of shock. I really thought she was going to blame me for taking the cookies. “I was hungry and I didn’t think I could wait for dinner to be done cooking. I took the cookies without asking. I’m sorry momma.” Samantha’s story sounded so fake but, I went alone with it. “It’s okay sweetheart. Next time just let me know and we can fix the problem. You did break the rules and I want you take out the trash tonight and tomorrow.” Mom commanded. Wait, is that all she has to do? I yelled in an angry voice. We sat there at the dinner table. My lips were poked out, I was mad. I just didn’t understand. How is it I get two months’ worth of chores and my sister gets two days. She admitted what she did but that shouldn’t make any difference. We still broke the rules. “Please excuses me.” I got up from the dinner table to make a phone call. I called Aunt Jackie. She was a Judge so, I knew she would know how to fix this problem.
