No one heard anything from the family in the controlled household until November 1949. They had names, but they'd rather not say. The family there had two children, an eleven year old boy and a thirteen year old girl, who were both homeschooled. Swinging on the swings everyday and coming in at nine every morning, the children kept their playing to a minimum. Around seven-thirty the mother would have breakfast cooked, and the dad would be off to work. Everything was great, until he leaves. He kissed them before he went off, soon after they would take their positions. The boy sat in his chair by the window, and the little girl ran to her room. Placing him on her lap, she smiled. “ What creature walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at midday, three legs in the evening,” she asked him staring into his eyes. I didn't answer her question. She smiled again looking at me with different color eyes this time. “ Looks like you'll be sitting with your sister at dinner instead of with us,” she placed him down then walked away. Time passed before the father came home around 6. The mother was cooking dinner and setting the table while the father took both children out to play on the swing set outdoors. Staring at her flowers that would never grow, she saw her family playing outdoors without her. Looking with exasperation, she called them in to help set the table. After the food and table were prepared, the father sat on one end and the mother on the other. The children sat away out of the mother’s presence near the shadow on the wall that sometimes goes inside of their mom. “ Why can't they sit with us,” the father questioned.
