A cool Autumn breeze swept through Alex's hair. She strolled past her neighbors' house until something stopped her in her tracks. Her house was engulfed in flames. She ran up to her neighbors' driveway and knocked on the door. Tears started to stream down her cheeks. Mrs. Robins opened the door and asked in a sweet voice, "What's wrong, dear?" "Look," Alex said in such a soft voice that is was almost a whisper, "my house...in flames." Mrs. Robins gasped. She ran back inside and picked up the phone. Five minutes later, the fire trucks arrived, but it was too late. Her house was burnt to the ground. While searching the house, the firemen found human remains. Now living with her creepy and overprotective uncle, she could barely get out of the house. The only chances to get out was when he went out on a date with his girlfriend. Tonight, he had a date. "I'll be back at 11," he said as he was walking towards the door, "and you remember the rules, right?" She nodded. "Okay, then. Bye!" He softly shut the door behind him. Mr. Robins explained that the police must have missed the box. Fingerprints were found on it. The fingerprints were her uncle's. "Sorry. I have to go," she said quickly, "My uncle is coming. I'll talk later. She set the phone down next to her as her uncle walked through the front door and into the living room. "Alex, I need to talk to you," he said. She asked, "About what?" "I confess. I set the fire, but it wasn’t my fault. It's your dad's. He promised me a great deal of money to kill your mother. She was a sweet woman, but I couldn’t refuse his offer. Your dad didn’t get out of the house in time, causing he, your mom, and your house went up in flames. I... I'm sorry," he said, choking on the words, "I'm turning myself in." Thirty years later, Alex was married, had a son, and was pregnant with twins. She was asleep, oblivious to what was going to happen next. She awoke with a throbbing pain in her side.
