All of the holidays are all great and filled with excitement, but my all time favorite holiday is Christmas. I'm already listening to Christmas music and it's not even Thanksgiving yet. One of the reasons I love Christmas is the music. Every time the magic that is Christmas music goes into my ears gives me a tingling feeling that fills me with joy. The fact that we get presents, white snow, and beautiful music that brings happiness every year makes Christmas time even better. I'm just so ready to wake up and find out Santa Claus came last night, (spoiler alert) not really. To make things better about the upcoming season, my birthday is right around the corner, December 18, exactly one week from Christmas. When Christmas season come along, I'll
Christmas, I love Christmas, I love shopping for presents for my loved ones, thinking about the gifts I want to give, the wrapping and arranging them under the beautiful Christmas tree. I love the planning and preparing Christmas dinner, filling the house with wonderful fragrant smells hoping everyone comes and has a good time and still talking to each other when they leave. Most of all though, I love the Christmas tree, I love the excitement as the hunt begins for the perfect tree finally when everyone is in agreement we bring it home hoping it’s not too tall too short too fat or too skinny and most important stands up straight. Somehow it always fits and always looks beautiful, I am never disappointed and my tree is always perfect and beautiful.
The history of Christmas has a exciting history and everyone should know how it originated. At Mary’s annunciation, she was told she was going to have a very special baby that would soon rule the world, with this in mind, her annunciation was also on March 25th, about nine months before December 25th. Although Christmas wasn't always celebrated on the 25th, for this purpose some people believe he wasn't even born in December, but in the spring or autumn. There are many pieces of evidence pointing to this conclusion, too. Including Jesus’ birth, when the shepherds kept the sheep on the hills, it would of most likely been too cold due to the snow, and as well as the timing of Passover, which would need many lambs. Christmas actually used to be
Have you ever wanted to know what the life of a Christmas gingerbread man was like? Every year I’m made to be eaten by someone to spread joy throughout the world but I’m done being eaten I will be running away so I can see the world. I’m going about the joy we spread as gingerbread men, pain my escape, and what is found by me in the world.
It is so easy to lose yourself onstage. Even with an almost blinding spotlight shining down on you, it is so easy to feel yourself slipping away until you are no longer there anymore. You have been replaced by this person known as your character and everything that you were has now become everything that they are. Your entire being has been stripped away from you, yet you embrace it because you are an actor and this moment is the most euphoric moment of your life.
It all started the first year of high school when I came to my first class, Beginner’s Orchestra. It was an unexpected class in my schedule. When I told my teacher that I did not ask for an orchestra class, she told me that I should take this challenge.
music, this holiday is celebrated for a reason. You wonder, why would the world want to celebrate about a jolly man named Santa Claus who delivers presents to all the children in this world? It's because we don't truly celebrate for that reason, Christmas was made for a much more important reason.
I like novelty in the music I listen to. Every holiday season, the same songs are played over and over, covered repeatedly but sounding nearly the same. I can appreciate some covers that break the mold, such as Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s holiday rock opera. Yet, the vast majority of holiday music just seems too commercialized and the substance of the original song just seems lost. There are good ways to cover music, such as an artist performing one of their favorite songs, or a song that really inspires them. When it comes to holiday music, I don’t think there is anyone out there who would claim “Jingle Bells” to be the most important song of their lives.
This story is depressing and personal, when I was young I was bullied a lot, being told many times “it’s because they like you” so I thought nothing of it until my grade 5 year where things got worse. Normally it would be the usual hair pulling, name calling stuff; but in grade 5 I became a punching bag and teachers never helped, they seemed to encourage them almost; it left me very tired, mentally, physically, emotionally and sometimes spiritually, I was a very happy child despite what was happening, but there were days where I wasn’t the bubbly girl I was. Instead what stood in her place was someone who was afraid of the world and left herself open to attacks. By the time Christmas break came around I moved to a new school hoping it would
The welcoming Christmas feel, the warm glow of the lights on the trees, and the many fun times with family is what make many’s Winter break. It’s a time to chill out. During my break, I watched some late night movies, hung out with my family, and played a lot of fun games.
From the moment I stepped on stage, I have known that musical theater will always be a significant part of my life. Musical theater opens doors to different realities and allows the performer to create their own world and version of the story. I have been involved with Hub Theater Group for seven years now trying to become more knowledgeable about the inner workings of theater as a whole, but I never knew that my best teachers would be a bunch of little children from the camp I volunteer at. Shining Stars, the camp I have been volunteering at for four years, has been one of my most treasured experiences because I get to help children come out of their shy shell and become amazingly flamboyant actors and actresses. Since I worked with Hub, I have seen campers come back year after year and become more personable because of the work my fellow counselors and I are doing.
What is the sole definition of Christmas? If I were to walk up to a random person in the street and ask them how do they define the reason on why we celebrate Christmas, I am sure their response would be that Christmas is a time where families get together, decorate their homes, cook a big feast, and exchanged gifts with one another. Also, if I were to ask a child what is Christmas, their response would be that Christmas is a time when Santa Claus keeps an eye on everyone before Christmas and if they have been good, they will be rewarded with gifts from Santa. However, according to the Bible it states, " Thus says the Lord: “Learn not the way of the nations, nor be dismayed at the signs of the heavens because
Have you ever wondered why your presents from Santa were always wrapped so neatly and perfect and how there were no crumbs around the plate that the cookies were on and that the napkin looked as if it had actually been used? That’s probably because it was a woman. Yes, in the pictures we see and the books that we read and maybe in the pictures that we have even taken with Santa, it looks like a man. But, today, I am here to tell you that things are, in fact, not always how they seem to be. On Christmas morning when I was little, I often wondered how Santa was so magical. I mean, how is it humanly possible to be smart enough to break into not only your house, but everyone’s in the world all in one night, be able to arrive on time bringing exactly what you “need”, and to have the neatest handwriting along with the best present wrapping. It just never made sense because at that point in my life I had NEVER seen a man who was able to accomplish all of those tasks, not only in one night but at all. Now that I am
I rolled both my fists, held them straight down the sides of my body as I stomped my foot down and roared, “You want me to look at flowers this winter vacation?”
Ever since I could remember, I have spent Christmas at my grandmother’s house, a house which is full of comfort, warmth, and happiness. At Christmas, I have always been able to escape the cold and dark real world allowing myself to truly enjoy just several moments in time. These moments have left impressionable memories from my childhood making Christmas a holiday that is special to me and my family. It is a time for my family to get together, share stories, laugh, and even cry.
