Horse Shows
Some of the best times I have had have been at horse shows. I have been to several that are smaller, at other competitor’s barns, and some at big venues, such as the Florida State Fairgrounds. One of the smaller shows was at the West Coast Morgans’ facility and I won two blue ribbons, a trophy, and a red ribbon, which is for 2nd place. I rode a beautiful bay American Saddlebred mare named Miley, but her registered name is Intoxicating Gypsy. Sometimes Miley would get spooky at silly things, but she was a great horse for me that show. Most of the time, horses get a little excited at horse shows because it isn’t their usual environment, like at our barn and in their pasture. At the end of 3rd grade, my school had me tested for “Giftedness” and that made it so I could go to my next school, Moon Lake Elementary. I went to Moon Lake so that I could be in their Gifted 5th grade. It was a bit of a long bus ride to get there and back, but I loved my teacher, Ms. Hamilton. The year she taught my class was her first year there and she was so excited to meet us. I loved her class so much that I named my very first horse after her, Hamilton aka Hammy. During my 5th grade year, my Mom and I did Odyssey of the Mind. That was a really interesting project where the students worked together as a team to design and build a track for a vehicle at a competition. My Mom volunteered to be a coach for our group. It was a lot of work, and things didn’t always go as we planned, but at the end, it was fun spending the day at the competition and spending time with my Mom. Finally, I applied to GCA for sixth grade. We had to wait a long time to hear if I was accepted or not, but one day while we were at a horse show, my mom got a call saying I was accepted and she was so happy for me that she was jumping up and
