Personal Narrative: A Day At The Space Shuttle

I took one last look at my home before I boarded the shuttle. The earth was once a lush green planet filled with various plants and animals. Advancements in technology led to factories producing excessive amounts of smog and carbon dioxide. None of the crops were capable of growing under these conditions and livestock started dying at a rapid rate. The president passed two laws based on the dwindling environment. The first law was the relocation of all citizens to a military compound for safety. The second law forced a selected group of twenty people to start a colony on the moon. I am one of those twenty people.
Everyone in the shuttle had the same expression on their face: fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of leaving friends and families behind, and fear of starting over. I left my whole family behind in hope for a better life. The only person I recognize is my best friend Rose. She is the definite yin to my yang. Rose is an optimistic social butterfly and I'm a pessimistic lone wolf. I guess opposites really do attract."This is your captain speaking. The shuttle was hit by an asteroid and we were taken off course. There was not enough fuel to return to Earth so we had to keep moving forward. We had just enough fuel left to make it to Mars. It took two weeks to reach the red planet. Once we landed, we immediately started to build homes and plant crops. Our settlement was very successful and grew at an unbelievable rate. After two months, twenty settlers multiplied to two hundred settlers. The once barren red planet filled with nothing but craters is now a new version of Earth. Raw materials from Earth have been shipped to Mars for manufacturing. Cars now litter the planet and factories fill the air with their smoke. Skyscrapers could be seen everywhere you
