After having read Chapter 9 in our book on professional ethics I feel like I have a better grasp on my own ethics as well as what exactly the difference between professional ethics and personal ethics are. Professional ethics are a set of guidelines or moral principles that are directly related to the work force and not outside of it. Our book mainly focuses on ethics that are relating to computers and gives examples such as "It can include such social and political issues as the impact of computers on employment, the environmental impact of computers, whether or not to sell computers to totalitarian governments, use of computer systems by the military, and the impact of new applications on privacy". This code of ethics basically explaining what is and is not alright within the work place. So this would be meaning that each individual person would not even be able to choose their own ethics, they are basically given to them from the start. However, this is not always the case within the work force. Even with these professional code of ethics, people are often still put into situations where they have to make a hard choice that is based on their current knowledge. Often this choice comes down to whether you should be honest or dishonest. I do have my own code of ethics, even though a lot of companies seem to give them to their employees. I when I think about it the first thing that comes to mind is that honest should always be a go to if you ever want a future in a specific career. Not only honest to your employers but also honesty to your employees and customers as well. I believe dishonesty, while sometimes hard to do, will get you nowhere in your career and will often just create more problems than solve them. I strongly believe that no relationships of any kind should be allowed in a work environment. This includes on all levels such as someone higher up dating an employee or someone on the same ground dating. Some people would think that dating on the same level would be okay, but I think it would just be for the best if there was none of it at all. I would say that the only exception would be if one was dating someone who was in the same company but worked in a different branch. I think the reason why I feel this way is because I can only ever see relationships in the workplace becoming a bad thing. say if a person was dating their boss and then they broke up. It would be pretty bad knowing that your boss could let their own feelings get in the way of their job. Even if they were still together the boss would still have a higher chance of showing favor to their significant other over the rest of the
