Perseverance Theme

By definition perseverance means "steady persistence in the course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement"(“The Definition of Perseverance”). This movie showed that no matter how many times you fall, you can get back up, all you need is the courage, and the confidence to do it. There are many great themes in this movie, however, this one spoke the loudest. From the moment the movie begins, to the very last scene, this theme resonates through every scene. Every detail of this movie, from the cast, to the soundtrack, locations, dialogue, and even the color schemes, were well thought through. Hans, but on Kung Fu as well, however, Mr, hans takes this opportunity to prove to him his unusual training technics are worth his time and effort. Before xiao Dre has a chance to leave, Mr. Hans begins sparing with him. However, xiao Dre is astonished he is able to block Mr. Hans' attacks. As xiao Dre's surprised expression fades away, he starts to understand the purpose of the long, and tiring routine he had done a thousand times. As they continue to spare, Mr. Hans explains why he had him do the same thing over and over in simple, but effective phrases. The dialogue makes this scene intense and stays true to the characters themselves. In only a few minutes, xiao Dre goes through significant changes, not only physically, but mentally as well. There is almost no dialogue, but it is as if the music itself was speaking. As the scene progresses the inspiring, hopeful music crescendos, captivating the viewers. The setting and clips are constantly changing, making this scene extremely intense. One moment they are training on the Great Wall of China, another, they are at Mr. Hans' house and another, they are on the roof of a building filled with laundry. Like the setting, the weather in this scene is constantly changing, proving that no matter what, they will give the tournament their all. One moment it will be sunny, and the next, it will be raining, however, xiao Dre continues to train very intensely no matter what. In this scene, the training is more intense than before shows many of Mr. Hans training technics. They work on speed, agility, and focus, and as the scene progresses xiao Dre gets better and better. As he practices, he proves that perseverance is the key, in winning the tournament. If this scene had taken place in different settings, the scene would have a very different mood and might not capture the attention of the viewers as it
