Kung Fu Panda Archetypes The theory of archetypes was created by a swiss psychologist named Carl Jung. An archetype is a word to describe symbols and stereotypes. Characters, images, and themes all exemplify universal meanings throughout literature. As pervasive archetypes are seen in many books and movies, they are commonly shown in Mark Osborne and John Stevenson’s, Kung Fu Panda. Jack black plays the main character Po, the lazy panda. This movie was released on June 6, 2008. Your thesis needs to be here at the end, not this stuff about the date of the movie. The date it was released isn’t really important to the essay. In the beginning of the movie, Po, a panda working at a noodle restaurant, daydreams about his idols and Mentors, The Furious Five. When going to watch the dragon warrior choosing Ritual, he accidently shoots himself into the ceremony with rockets and ends up being chosen as the dragon warrior. Everyone is so surprised and disappointed that he got chosen, especially Master Shifu and the furious five. Master shifu and The Furious Five attempt to scare Po out of being the dragon warrior, which makes him feel like an outcast. Feeling discouraged, Po goes to the peach tree. Po …show more content…

When he was chosen as the dragon warrior, he finally had responsibilities to take on. Nobody believed in him, not even himself. When he had the reassuring conversation with Master Oogway, he feels that he is not just a worthless panda. He starts to bond with his Mentors, the Furious Five. They later found out that Tai Lung, their enemy, has escaped from prison. Po panics and runs away. Careful here - it’s a bit too repetitive Meanwhile, the Furious Five go themselves to fight Tai Lung. Po is convinced to return to save the village. After defeating Tai Lung, Po becomes the Hero of the movie. Without archetypes, books and movies would not be as exciting to the watcher or reader. Good ending
