The key to winning the floor title at the biggest gymnastics meet of the year is having passion for the sport, rhythm in the routine, and captivating the audience's attention. This is very similar to getting an “A” on a paper for school. First, when writing a paper, passion is a big key. When a writers write about something, they have to have some passion or the topic will be very bland. Authors show their passion by dedicating their time and attention to their writing. Having passion is required for gymnastics, too. Gymnasts spend many hours each week practicing for big meets to improve. Many gymnasts don’t need to practice the skills so much as they do the technique and appearance. If the gymnasts don’t have passion for their routine, they won't be motivated to perform their routine so they connect with the audience. Being creative doesn’t just mean having interesting ideas, it might mean including details that will surprise the audience. The best writing pieces usually have some element that makes the audience want to continue to read more. The writer has to draw in the audience; gymnasts must do the same. When performing a floor routine, interesting and unexpected elements attract the audience. For example a gymnast could add a tumbling pass that would raise the difficulty, or he or she could add unique dance skills such as turns or leaps. The gymnast needs something that stands out to catch the judge’s eye. During a floor routine, the gymnast’s purpose is to make the audience enjoy the routine as much as they do. If the gymnast does not include unexpected or interesting elements, the audience will eventually get bored and turn to something else that catches their
