Pakistan
Located in South Asia, Pakistan lies proudly, with many different land forms. It has a strong culture and holds the first woman head of government in the Muslim community.
Many traditions, cultures, resources and strong religious beliefs are present in Pakistan. Pakistan is a fairly new country, but offers a beautiful country-side and a much needed increasing economy.
Pakistan is located in South Asia bordered by India China, Afghanistan, Iran, and the Arabian Sea. The area of Pakistan is 307,374 square miles with a population of about 134,974,000 (estimated 1995) which is an average population density of about 439 persons per square mile. Within Pakistan’s massive area, there is a beautiful topographical layout. The Indus River almost divides the country in half, spanning from the northeast to the Arabian Sea. On the eastern side of the Indus Rivers lies the Indus Plain and on the western side extends the Balochistan Highlands. Located to the north, there are excellent opportunities for winter sports, mountaineering, hiking, and beautiful scenery because of the Himalayan hill stations (Kaleidoscope, 3). Next to the Himalayas, is the Karakorum Range that contains Pakistan’s highest point and the worlds second highest point, K2, reaching an elevation of 28,250 feet above sea level (Encarta).
The climate in Pakistan varies from place to place. In the mountain regions, the temperature falls way below freezing during the winter months. The temperature in the Indus plains reaches 55°F in the winter and between 90° and 120°F in the summer. Most of Pakistan is arid because rainfall is scarce and mostly occurs in July and August. There are four seasons in Pakistan which are the following: Cold season, December to March; Summer, April to June; Monsoon season, July to September; Post-monsoon season, October to November. Since the country is mostly arid, it does not lend itself to contain fertile soil for growing food products except in the Indus Plain, where its natural resources are primarily agricultural. From the Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab, and Jhelum Rivers come irrigation systems which help supply water to various parts of the Indus Plain. The main crops are wheat, rice, maize, cotton, sugar cane, and pulses. Pakistan’s natural resources also consist of salt, ch!romite, coal, gypsum, limestone, manganese, sulfur, clay, graphite, copper, petroleum,...

I chose to write this report on Pakistan partly because when we had to decide which country to do, there was a question asked about Benazir Bhutto and Pakistan on Jeopardy.
The other reason that helped me choose Pakistan is that the main religion in Pakistan is Islam. I recently saw the movie Malcolm X and near the end of Malcolm’s life, he turned to the religion of Islam. These two things sparked my interest and made me decide that I wanted to know more about Pakistan. I learned that Benazir Bhutto was the first female Muslim leader, and that she is a leader for the people. Also, I learned that K2 is the highest point in Pakistan and the second highest mountain in the world. This assignment showed me how other beliefs, traditions, cultures, and types of government function within a country. Here in America, we have a very culturally diverse population. However in a country where there is one prominent culture, that country’s day to day activities are more in touch wi!th its religion, traditions, and culture. Pakistan is a great country, with the largest Islamic population in the world and I think a great political leader who will help make Pakistan a better place.
Major newspapers around the world wrote about Masih’s story, even though it was often demoted towards the end of the newspaper. It was not long before both the media and the public disregarded it. A little less than seven thousand miles away from Pakistan, however, another 12-year-old boy in Thornhill, Canada devoted Masih’s story to memory, an undertaking that signified the beginning ...
As Buddha once said, “Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.” In the text Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, everything that is said between the characters is a metaphor, a meaning within a meaning. This isn’t an uncommon trait as can be seen within the many different kinds of writings that are games. There are many different things that happen within the play itself, but every scene has a meaning behind the meaning. To the typical person they would see this play as a comedy, and it isn’t until they have read or seen the play another couple of times that they will realize the meanings behind the scenes. Also, a person has to know the play Hamlet, by William Shakespeare to fully understand the hidden messages that lie underneath the play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. There are many hidden meanings in this play, and three of these hidden meanings include: identity, dying and confusion.
Being shot in the face and seriously injured, did not stop Malala Yousafzai from pursuing her dreams. She did not morally agree with her government’s treatment of women, so she fought for her beliefs. Malala grew up in a rural village in Pakistan and was forced to follow customs she did not believe in. Swat Valley changed to a strictly ruled village with discrimination towards women. Malala created awareness around the world of the situation and stood up for her rights to education. Through Malala Yousafzai’s painful experience with growing up in a dangerous part of Pakistan, she created awareness in hope to regain the rights to educational opportunities for women.

In Pakistan, people are stricken with poverty, the economy is unstable, and there are no opportunities to fulfill one’s goals. The U.S. economy is abundant and ripe with jobs. The only attribute is that one has to go out and want a job. Pakistan is more of a follower than a leader. It essentially adopts America’s ideals, but does not attain them. The poverty and unemployment rates are increasing daily. In many cases, one person works in the family and rest of the individuals sit back and play cricket or watch movies all day long. There is no hope of becoming a self-made person. The system is backwards and I think it requires a change. In contrast, living in Ameri...
... tension. During the campaigns of 1988 for the New York Presidential Primary, Koch set out a relentless attack on democratic party candidate, Rev. Jessie Jackson, by saying that Jews would be "crazy" to vote for him, accusing him of "arrogance and contempt” {NY Times, 1988}, and charging him for lying in 1968 about Martin Luther King dying in his arms. Mayor Koch’s fiercest, most powerful opponent, his voice, caused him both his credibility with minority voters and his fourth term as well. In the end, even when the Mayor claimed his “style” {NY Times, 1987} had changed attempted to repair the rift he had created with minorities by convening for meetings, pleading for “exquisite sensitivity to others,” {1987} and speaking out following the incident at Howard Beach in which white youths hit and killed 23 year old Michael Griffith with their car, it seemed too late.
Oftentimes, readers will finish a text and begin to wonder how the story might have been different had it been told by a different character. Readers usually use the antagonist as the opposing viewpoint when considering this, however, Tom Stoppard took a different approach when analyzing William Shakespeare’s, Hamlet. Stoppard wanted to make a play that involved characters from Hamlet, but chose two flat characters rather than the antagonist, who is Hamlet’s step-father. Stoppard chose to use the two flat characters Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, and based his title on one of the last lines from Hamlet, ‘Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead.’ In his text, he evaluates the backstory of Hamlet’s two childhood friends on their journey to Denmark, their experiences there, and finally their fatal boat ride. Many messages can be derived from Tom Stoppard’s play, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, among these being the acceptance of luck, the importance of language, as

Throughout the course of the play, Hamlet, the reader of the text is introduced to several minor characters, all of whom serve one or more functions to further develop the text. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, are two of the minor characters presented within the play, and the pair serve, unitedly, to illustrate several key themes and ideas within the play, as well as their influence on humor presented within the text. Thus, in William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, a pair of minor characters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are utilized through their actions and their dialogue, as a method of establishing several key themes within the text, such as obedience, deception, and identity, or lack thereof, and as a way of establishing humor within the text.
The Prince of Kashmir chose India but Pakistan invaded the province soon after and have occupied part of Kashmir since then. Controversy still surrounds the province today because naturally, Muslims want to control it. While many Muslims relocated to Pakistan and the Hindus to India, half of the Muslim population was left in India and their relations did not improve after being partially separated.
The tragic play "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" by Tom Stoppard were retold from the story of William Shakespeare famous play "Hamlet". The two insignificant characters in Shakespeare's "Hamlet" are Rosencrantz and Guildenstern and Hamlet is the main character. Whereas in Stoppard's play, "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" Hamlet is a minor character and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are the protagonists. The author's different perspective of Shakespeare's two minor characters made the audience realize that being controlled by Hamlet might have led them to their deaths. Throughout "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead", Hamlet's presence affected the protagonists' lives.
